Lamictal And Feeling Cold All the Time? Posted: 09-21-07 13:35pm
I just started taking Lamictal just under
2 weeks ago - 25mg 2x per day. I've been
feeling extremely cold all of the time and
have to bundle up in order to feel
comfortable. Everyone is looking at me
like I'm crazy. I work in an office where
the temps are normal and everyone else is
wearing short sleave shirts - sometimes a
sweater when the air comes on. The temps
outside are still nice -60's - 70's. When
I get home, we open the slider to let
fresh air in to circulate and I have to
put on flannel pj's and wrap myself in a
blanket while my fiance sits there in
shorts and t-shirt....
Has anyone experienced this with lamictal?

I have never experienced that with
Lamictal. Do you have a thyroid condition
or another medical condition? I would talk
with your doctor. Good luck

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had my
thyroid checked a few weeks ago because of
the hair loss from the Topamax that I am
also on for epilepsy. No problems with my
thyroid. I've lost a lot of weight from
both meds so I guess it might have
something to do with that, I don't know.
I just wanted to see if this might have
something to do with thiis new medication
since there are so many different side
effects going on inside me.
I go in on monday so I'll let the doc know
what's going on. Thanks again!

Perhaps it's just a funky side effect. I
am on Zoloft right now and I can't stop
yawning. It is a rare side effect and I
have it.

I had this side effect when I first
starting taking it. It was definitely a
noticible side effect, but got better
over time, and I am now on 150mg and do
not notice it anymore. I have found it to
be a useful drug for me with minimal side
effects. Good luck.

hi i take lamictal 2x 50 daily with 200 2x
daily of epilim due to my epilepsy being
nocturnal. i had moved to lamictal slowly
and decreasing my epilim slowly to get to
the medium i am at now. i did experience
the temperature changes, and know all
about carrying a duvet around home while
others have the air-con on. ive been on
this dosage for 5 months or so now and
they have definately settled. winter is
around the corner (NZ) and im not too sure
how it will be as i changed them last
winter and suffered the consequences but
im not sure if the side effects will
return in winter. but yes, i have
definately felt your pain

Lamictal and hearing Posted: 03-02-08 17:20pm
Beware, I switched from Lamictal to
Keppra, due to hearing loss that I
suffered while on Lamictal. Although I
already had a hearing disability - the
Lamictal made it worse. I have nocturnal
seizures that are controlled.

I take 400mg and my seizures are still not
controlled. eliza 1977 I do have a problem
with allways being cold but I thought it
might be from having thin blood. I also
was on topamax but I got off it when I
lost to much weight. I still had seizures
then anyways. I may have a thyroid
problem, I have a lot of the symtoms but
when I tested I didnt. Hope things are
working better for you, are they
controlled?
