Hi Colleen,
I read your message a couple of days ago. From what I remember, your boyfirend just started smoking about six months ago.
Honestly, I don't know why people start smoking these days with all the information on the dangers of smoking that is out there.
That being said. It might be tricky to convince your boyfriend to stop smoking because he is so new to the nicotine trap. While now it may not feel like a big deal to him about smoking. I can promise that over he years that view will change. Smokers will eventually regret smoking, even if a health issue doesn't arise.
The best thing you might be able to do, is to try and show him that smoking doesn't do anything for him, BUT TO HIM.
If he hasn't fallen into the nicotine trap, he soon will and smoking will change from some casual thing that a person does to a constant thing that a person needs to do.
This is another post of mine explaining how the nicotine trap works.

You might want to buy the book: The Easy Way to Quit Smoking", by Allen Carr.
There will be no pressure on him to read it, because the author actually wants the reader to smoke as they read the book, but your boyfriend might be quite surprised that when he finishes the book, that he probably won't really want to smoke anymore.
Don't worry it is not a scare tactic book by any means, but he won't look at smoking the same way again either.
Hope that helps
By the way. The book takes a much simpler look at smoking than my post " The Illusion Of AAahhhhhh. So don't worry about it getting to deep in the actual mechanics of smoking and nicotine addiction.
