Q: After Intense Exercise, throat Pain Follows

For at least 10 years now,I go to the gym and practice some boxing.Usually I am one step before exhaustion after each boxing session.Problem is,very frequently,at least 50% of the time, the other morning I get a throat pain that lasts from a day to several weeks.Of course I have been at a doctor and had a laryngoscopy that didn't show anything.Withdrawing from the exhausting exercise, seems to solve the problem:For 2 years I had quit the gym and almost never had throat pain. While,in the period of time I attended the gym I had at least 5 incidents a year that lasted for a month or more.It is also a non-specific gym problem, because I have changed 3 gyms over the years while the problem remains.

While I experience throat pain, the clinical examination sometimes reveals nothing and other times it gives signs of a throat infection.Sometimes the infection climbs deeper in my bronchial tree.At these cases I usually get an antibiotic and this solution works fine, but I can't of course get antibiotics for life just to be able to exercise.

I am a med student myself and can't figure this out.I have consulted with colleagues but I haven't heard of an explanatory answer.I am thinking, maybe a weird microorganism resistant to antibiotics, positioned in my throat that wakes up every time my immune system is down due to exhaustion?other colleagues have disagreed with that theory.

thanks for any answers!

My immunity goes down, too, after I get really tired. Why do you work yourself to the point of exhaustion? Any substitutes for boxing?

wow.
I've just started jogging again and i get these exact symptoms.
Amusingly, I'm also a med student and likewise I've been unable to find a satisfactory answer.
I have recently self diagnosed with Excercise induced asthma however, and am wondering if its a similiar process but of upper airway. the United Airway Disease theory is starting to gain cred amongst practitioners and this kinda fits in with that.
