Plasma Televisions And Epilepsy
Posted: 09-21-07 06:42am

My mother has had epilepsy for the past 40 years. We go the movies a lot, and she watches tv just like any other person does. In January she was put on keppra and up until last week for the first time she has not had any seizures in 8 months. We recently bought a 42 inch plasma tv and since putting the tv in the house her seizures started again. She has had one a night in her sleep around 3:30 in the morning for about 5 days. Her neurologist does not think it is from the tv. However after being seizure free for 2 nights we tried watching tv using the plasma again, and she had a small seizure 45 minutes into watching the movie. I feel that it might truly be something in the tv doing it, but I am not 100% certain. Can anyone tell me what they know about plasma televisions and epilepsy. I found very little information about this. The tv also operates at 60hz, which is I think the standard that most tv's in America operate at.
