I have had anxiety for 5 years now and have just managed without medication. the last two weeks or more I have been really stressed with job, money, girlfriend, and etc. I have not been able to get my breath or a deep breath and that kicks into an anxiety or panic attack. I do drink on weekends and that makes it worse on Sundays. My Eye lid twitches alot, I can't get to sleep and wake up alot shaking, cough or think my throat is tightning up all the time and choking. It is getting to the point where it is killing my day everyday and now that is all i can think about all day which makes it worse. Is this normal or what i guess i am waiting to get my medical insurance to get checked again but before i had a bad attack and went to the medical room and they said it was anxiety, panic, and hyperventilation.......Just seeing if anyone is experiencing the same thing
thanks,
ryan

Deffinetly sounds like what I've been having for a while now, i've been on medication for that for about 3 months now.

It was crazy though it just started out of literally, no where...
One day I had an panic attack and for 3 weeks until i got some medicine I would have about 4-10 freakouts/attacks a day... I would always think i was choking, i thought my heart was gonna give out... I thought i would never wake up when I went to bed... I was afraid to drive, or do anything to tell you the truth... One of the worst experiences of my life... Luckily i'm on medication now and it helps. I dislike the side effects, but i'd rather be on it than have all that again...

If it's starting up again man, all I can suggest is some counseling and maybe getting back on meds for it.

Hi Mixxer...Im not sure of your age but I myself am 24 now and my attacks started exactly 2 years ago. I will tell you from my little experience what may help.

1. Seek therapy from a psycologist not just a clinician.

2. Walking is huge. I go for about a 2 mile walk each evening and things just come in to your head and leave.

3. When you breathe..put one hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach. Take deap breaths and make sure that your stomach is where you are breathing into. When you breathe deep down into the diaphram oxygen is sent out to all your muscles and blood cells keeping you from getting dizzy and having the shortness of breath feeling.

4. Church and Prayer. I was raised catholic but I tell you I never really was a "24/7 church person". But I think 99% of the people in this forum pray that the anxiety and attacks will just go away. I feel so good when I leave church that it is amazing.

5. Positive thinking. Encourage yourself and encourage others.

I hope some of these things help as I have felt so much better practicing with them. You will feel better and get through it if you believe in yourself!

You can do it!!

Can We Back Up Here a Bit?
The most important questions that I persoally have for you are:

What med's were you on?

Did you stop them on you own or by the advice of your physican?

No med should be stopped cold turkey unless adviced by your doctor.

Withdrawl is not a fun thing. Been there, done that. Don't want to do it again. You have to realize that the longer you have been on a class drug for this problem, the longer and worse it is to get off. I know some that need rehab to wheen down. I hope your answer is that you don't not go cold turkey yourself. And if you did, you need to seek medical attention for this matter ASAP. Your symptoms sound like possible withdrawl to me. Be careful when taking Seratonin uptakes and inhibitors or any anti- anxiety drug for that mater that is a narcotic.

I wish you well.
