My mother has epilepsy and has been on tegretol and phenobarbital for many years. She was on that medicine for during both times she was pregnant with my brother and I, we are both in our 20's now. I am not saying that all medicine is safe to take while being pregnant, but we are fine now. Talk to your neourologist about the medicine and future pregnancies

i have temporal lobe epilepsy. My dr advised me against pregnancy whilst on my medication. However i was on more than 1 medication and high doses...325mg lamotrigine twice daily and 1500 leveracetam twice daily. For all my partner and i wanted another child, my fear of these horrific 'happenings' occurring due to coming off my meds put me off, and subsequently we both agreed the safest option was vasectomy. Although may i add, before TLE was diagnosed, i was having these 'happenings' but not knowing what they were. When i was pregnant i never had a single episode, but the day he was born, i had a bad one infront of the medical staff, which in turn led to what was happening to me being investigated.
