I have had herpes since my exwife was so kind as to bring it home from one of her affairs...My question is what is the probability that if I had sex with my current GF who knowingly had sex with me 5 - 7 times during 2 different breakouts that she got it??? Common sense says its pretty likely that she did or will get it...Im hoping not though... Shocked

Wow she probably most definately has it. You should never have sex during an outbreak, even if she knows you have it and is ok with it. Wow wasnt that painful for you? Well your a guy and I am a girl so the areas are a lot different...

But you can both pass the sores back and forth to each other and it could end up being this nasty mess. I wouldnt recomend it.

herpes answer
some people are immune to getting herpes. strange but true. if she is not immune and has been exposed, she will most likely develop her first outbreak within 14 days. since there are other complications for women (higher incidence of cervical cancer, for one) you should really abstain from sex during outbreaks or at least use a condom to protect her. i'm sure you would feel terrible to pass it on--even though your ex didn't treat you with the same respect.

I got exposed to herpes 5 years ago but didnt have my first outbreak until a year and a half later. You get exposed to it and then it sits in your nervous system until, stress, or some kind of sickness ocures that affects your nervous system. The first time, I had a bad yeast infection and i took the pill that gets rid of it really fast... then a week later I was graced with soars. 2 years later I got strep throught really bad and they had to give me a big booster shot of penecillian.... I ended up gettting hot and vommited at the office becuase of the high dose of meds. I then got my second outbreak.
I am now 20 weeks pregnant and had another yeast infection so took the pill again and now have an outbreak. Im thnking Im not going to take that medication anymore! The virus is also brought on by a lot of stress.
I had my long distnace boyfriend move in with me, we got pregnant unexpectedly, then got engaged and married all within the same year. I have had an unusal amount of stress in my life so that has not helped. Im worried for my unborn child and the current outbreak. I also know that you can spread the virus even without an outbreak... has anyone else had that expierience? Im affraid of passing this to my husband!

MOST people actually outbreak within 3-21 days after exposure..

It is rarer to be exposed and have a 'first' outbreak years later.

Have you considered daily suppressive therapy? It will prevent herpes during vaginal delivery, and prevent you from spreading it to your b/f.

In response to "PregoSteph's" question:
"also know that you can spread the virus even without an outbreak... has anyone else had that expierience?:
I have experienced that personally. My partner has Oral HSV 1 (cold sores once in a while) and I was recently diagnosed with genital HSV 1. The times that we've done that, nothing was ever visible, no cold sores, nothing. But the virus can still be spread even though it is not visible to the eye. It is not always a visible outbreak everytime. Hope this helps!

hi stephanie. I had 4 outbreaks all around my 20th and 21st wk of pregnancy. I began taking suppressive medication at that time. I never had another outbreak and delivered my baby vaginally and healthy. You cannot pass herpes to your baby unless the virus is present in the birth canal while hes born. And there is a chance for you husband to get it.
