Having this for a while
I have had this happen on and off for a while,

and I have never noticed it happen after eating seafood??? I got it quite badly on christmas day, I went to an after hours doctor who did not understand what i was saying at all, she tested me for three different types of parasites??? However, when i went to do the samples, of course the discharge had stopped so I still don't really know what it was from.....

I have it again currently, and my stomach is rumbling constantly, I have eaten in 2 days as I feel strange.

I have been for a colonscopy yet, but am thinking I should, but a few people on different forums never found answers that way!!

My sister told me that things like this can happen from diet pills, but I have never touched stuff like that....

For many, many years now I have always had trouble with my bowels, usually severe pain to the point of doubling over and screaming for help, but only in the last 6-8 months have I experienced bright orange oil like substance!

I have read alot of forums about this same symptom, so it seems like there are alot of people with this, so I wonder why doctors seem to have no idea what I am taliking about?? Maybe I should refer them to this page for help???

Although, I am sure I have eaten cashew nuts a day before this has happened each time?? But why would they have this effect??? Does anyone know??

abdominal pain
Have you gotten tested for food allergies i.e. nuts? Also, with your abdominal pain and oily stools you might consider getting a blood test for Celiac disease. When you have this you are allegic to gluetin which is found in many foods containing wheat, rye, and barley.

orange bowel movement
I didn't eat any fish either. I had 2 drinks last night and I tried the fat free pringle chips 2 days ago. This orange stuff started today. I am on a very healthy diet and I work out all the time. I am scared..
I read somewhere that this is a symptom of chronic illness such as Cancer. I also added vitamim B drinks to my diet.

I read 'not to ignore such symtoms and go to the doctor because this could be a serious illness. My stomach keeps growling too..

Orange Oily Discharge
I am glad I looked at this site. With recent colon surgery, I thought I had something related to that surgery. Two nights ago I had Orange Roughy, and it looks like that is the common theme in this scenario. Oil is a little frighening, as if you look at it in the right light, you can believe it is blood.

Thanks to all, and I will see if it goes away in a few days.

Self-diagnosis
I just saw my sister checking out this website. I didnt read through every post; however I was amused by several and enthralled by most that I did read. I love that people can reach out to one another and share resources. On that note, I have two cents I would like to share: If you are not interested in reading my opinion about this info please do not read the rest of my post. I am a nurse and am not responding for dialogue, I am simply passing along my educated opinion for those who are interested.
I appreciate deliberative dialogue between healthcare professionals and patients, and I believe education is imperative to good health habits. It is clearly evident in research that those who are proactive about their health live healthier lives. We all know that getting educated about our health yields good preventative health maintenance (http://www.healthypeople.gov/behealthy/).
That said, there is an element of risk in self-diagnosis. Finding solutions to odd bodily functions is great! However, please keep in mind that pathology is not always identical from one person to the next. There are other causes for mucosa and discoloration of stool (example: Clostridium difficile www.CDC.gov). Please be cautious about your resources when seeking medical advice.
If your problem is resolved and simply related to some fish you ate then you have been a brilliant detective. On the other hand, if you are someone who has been recently hospitalized &/or having persistent symptoms, you are elderly, or you suffer from a disease; you may be risking your health if you just assume that you must have eaten something or it was the fish.
Sometimes simple gastrointestinal episodes (orange oily stool) cause dehydration. I read one post written by a man with concern for his wifes fainting (syncopal) episodes. This is an example of a potentially severe problem that should not be explored online.
When searching online, please check the validity of the medical resources you encounter (look for credibility in research and credentials). And please consult a doctor if you are experiencing persistent and unresolved diarrhea of any kind. Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants are the only ones who are truly qualified to diagnose health problems.
thanks for reading Smile

Thanks goodness for Google!
I am soo glad I came to Google, although I didn't have a clue what to search for. I typed in the word "oily" and a list came up with "oily stool" in it..I found this message board and I feel so much better. A week ago I started a cleanse, eating only foods that come from seeds, ie: fresh veggies, fruit, nuts, whole grains. I noticed the orange oily residue in the toilet yesterday, and even more today, even when there was no bowel movement. Like so many others of you, I have been eating a lot of nuts. I have been eating mixed nuts, but of course they have lots of cashews. I have NEVER heard of such a thing before and it kind of scared me, but figured it must have something to do with the new diet. I'm going to lay off the nuts for a while. Unfortunately I just had some more before getting on the computer. Hopefully this doesn't last too long!! Thanks everyone for your helpful posts!!

Orange oily diarrhoea
Alot thanks to you guys, i've got this problem since this morning, it's the first time in my life. It freak me out and a bit funny in a way because of an oily liquid escape from a human body. I ate COD fish but it's labeled Snow fish ( made in Taiwan) on Wednesday night and Thursday luch, and on Friday morning this weird diarrhoea was started. But i still went to work, it wet my paint while i was in company, i was frightened and run to Doctor, he also had no ideas so he asked me to do some tests. Tonight, i think Google could help so i try and it really calm me down now. Thanks

Thank god for the web
I was thinking about music for my funeral ( you can never be 'too prepared'!). I will see my doctor but my mind is much relieved thanks to all you sufferers. I have had really bad diarrhea for two weeks with no apparant cause but to find a big orange patch in the bed really freaked me out. (And it won't wash out!) I had some king prawns last night cooked in olive oil but that's all. Perhaps it's my body telling me to start eating properly after all the abuse I've put it through! Thanks for putting my mind at ease

Same for me too. Has happened before but only very mildly, whereas the last few days it's been a bit worse.

Stool is fine really, just perhaps not producing as much as normally. It's just accompanied by a yellowy/orange oil.

I don't eat fish or nuts, unfortunately so haven't found much relief in this forum! I have been eating more junk food & fatty foods though recently - particularly chocolate, so I'm figuring I can put it down to that.

I have had lower right side abdominal pain recently, and often. I went to the docs and was tested for 7 different things including coeliacs and so on. Also had stool samples taken for stomach ulcers. All proved negative and normal.

I feel like a bit of a hypochondriact if I keep going back with the same complaint!

cashews
thanks for sharing your bathroom stories, everyone. over the last 6 months I began including a large amount of RAW cashews in my diet. I eat them along with meals of greens and vegetables to add some protein and energy to the meal. RAW cashews caused no problems and I could eat a pound of them and never experience this oil passing straight through me. This week I moved to a new city, new grocery store, and they didn't have any raw cashews, so I substituted the roasted, salted, oily ones in a bag - and for the last 2 days I have farted my way through 3 pairs of pants and underwear. HAHA.

Oily orange diarrhea occurred for the first time in my life. It happened two days after I drank vitamin water, and one day after I ate escolar, all also for the first time in my life.
