I am going to be 36 in November and have been a diabetic for about 7 or 8 years now, that I know of. My husband and I were pregnant last year and in May (06') found out we were losing the baby, consequently, I had surgery and ever since I cannot seem to be myself. I lost my job in feburary of this year and have not been on my medication as I lost health insurance as well. This is not supposed to be a sob story, but I have tried to qualify for all kinds of assistance programs, but my husband makes too much money for us to qualify, but not enough to pay all the bills, support us, pay for doctor's visits and $300.00/month (non-insurance) medication. I am really starting to get worried as I use the bathroom probably 10-15 times daily and I am starting to loose alot of hair. Anybody out there with any advice please contact me, I would be very appreciative. Crying or Very sad

Lack of Insurance
I went through lack of insurance for 3 years about 14 years ago. Kept taking my insulin (much less expensive than what I'm on now) but was testing glucose infrequently. The result was that when I finally went to the doctor, my HA1C was 9, not good. Since then, the HA1C tends to hover around 7.0, not fantastic but at least decent. If lost insurance again, I would certainly continue testing 4 times daily. Doing my own calculations, I could at least maintain control for $200/mo. (Lantus-$50, Humalog-$50, Test strips-$100). Since I'm currently paying $245/mo. health insurance seems like a no-brainer to me. Your situation medical situation sound grave indeed. Please reorder your priorities.
