A little background information...

My boyfriend is 20 years old, half-Caucasian and half-Korean, and has Crohn's Disease (an autoimmune disease affecting the large intestine). Before diagnosis in 2005 he was 6'0" and roughly 170 pounds. Now, 2 years later, he is 6'0" and somewhere between 135-140 pounds, so just slightly underweight.

Since he was quite young he had what we thought was a birthmark on the top of his left wrist that he jokingly called his "coffee stain". It is somewhere between the side of a nickel and the size of a dime, smooth, even colored, symmetrical, hair grows out of it (normal hair like on the rest of his arm) and it is tan in color (kind of the color of milky coffee). Before he lost weight, it was perfectly even with the rest of his arm/skin. Now that he has lost weight, he's noticed that it is raised (especially when he bends his wrist) but it is still smooth texture wise and has not changed diameter or color.

He has other moles that need to be checked out (much smaller ones on his back/chest) that seem to have grown or changed color.

He has a Doctor's appointment this Monday (8/24) with a dermatologist, but we have been reading on the internet about possibilities and are officially, for lack of a better term, freaked out.

Any ideas?
