Crawling Sensations Under the Skin: Collembola (Springtails) (Page 1)

I've suffered from crawling sensations under my skin, mainly on my shoulder, but also face, hair, legs, feet, just about everywhere, since 2004.
I don't have the fibres some people talk about but maybe that's a secondary complication.
I've discovered from researching that they are Collembola (Springtails) and now I can actually see them under the webbing of top layer of skin by using the new kids toy EYE-CLOPS which you view, at 200 x magnification, on your TV screen.
They are white and reflect the light from the magnifier (especially their eyes). Still waited till they moved to make sure I wasn't imagining it.
Bad news is that I've been trying for 12 months to kill them, to no avail. I can't think of any more things to try but if I find something I'll let you know. When I have really made them suffer, they bite, but seem to recover quickly.
Worst time I gave them was when I had the church Elders pray for me. The Springtails bit me for days, keeping me awake at night, but they're still here. Maybe God has a purpose for my suffering. I'll keep you posted. Don't give up! Lyn

Springtails
Hi Lyn,

I'm so sorry to hear you have this. I know exactly how it feels. I have had the same crawling skin sensations, stings, and after treating with sulfur cream was finding clear, salt-like round crystals that look like flea eggs and bodies of what looks like a small wormlike creature with a head and a long tail. I showed it to a doctor and he said that I am delusional. Just because they can't find it in their nerdy little book they think it doesn't exist. That's delusional!

Anyway, a doctor can give you something that can temporarily alleviate some symptoms,--a sterhoid shot, sterhoid cream, hydrocortisone cream, and benadryl to treat the allergic reaction and help me sleep at night.

As for other remedies, please contact me and I can let you know what else has been working for me to reduce their population and what else might work. Two heads are better than one. Let's see what we can come up with together and maybe God will give us a chance to live a normal life again.

My prayers go out for you,
Richard

Hi...I'm new to these posts. I have the same feeling of crawling on my skin. I have had a lot of allergy tests and things have gotten better, but the itching comes out of nowhere. My mom was told she was crazy, because they couldn't find anything..finally after 4 years of suffering they discovered she had dermatitis herpetiformis which I do not have. So far the doctors have not been very helpful. One will say rosacea, another dry skin and another will say sensitive skin/excema. It's frustrating. If anyone has any helpful suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you! SB

Buy Walmart Equate 40% zinc oxide diaper rash ointment. Basically Desitin. Apply all over. Put 11% zinc oxide baby powder, baking soda in shoes. Keep powder on you in the day when you have to be in public. Sprinkle in under clothes and all over feet. You can buy Tea Tree oil at Walmart $8, add to Tea Tree shampoo, leave on hair, put on plastic cap squeeze out air. Leave on a couple of hours. May have to repeat if crawling in scalp continues. Massage 40% zinc oxide into itching areas. I cover with this at nite. Watch for debris to come out, keep rubbing it out till itching stops. The other product that helps, Blue Star ointment and jar of Vaseline. Mix together this gives you much more as Blue Star is very small jar. Apply and eggs, debris comes out immediately if you have what the rest of us have, Morgellons. I personally believe biting gnats are doing this as they seem to attack every time I spend time outdoors. Watch and notice if they are around your home. Good Luck Hope this helps you.

Springtails
Thanks Richard!
I have found a picture of a Springtail (Collembola) which looks like the ones I can see under the top layer of my skin but was unable to paste it in this box. (Note: there are over 6,000 types of Collembola apparently)
I can send you the photo.
Did you keep using the sulphur? I tired dandruff treatments on my skin as they contain sulphur and kill fungi etc. but to no avail.
A doctor friend suggested they maybe they are more prolific than is realised. Female patients report crawling under the skin sensations during menopause and it is listed as a symptom of menopause but nothing more.

We should keep up the research and the prayers. But there are visible skin parasites and worms that cause much more suffering to children and adults without access to any sort of treatment. I pray daily for all those who are suffering throughout the world but I would hate to pass on Springtails to anyone..... Lyn

Hi Lyn, Could you send me a picture too. I am listed under username Janiney with a picture of my arm being swarmed. I have been putting permethrin creme or promethrin) (basically poison) on my head down to my toes. i application gets rid of any bed bugs, along with mites, bites and parasites oh my! It dries out your skin and you get dandruff. put your scalp and body will be free of any itching. My problem is I've had to use it often. My doctor is sending a letter out and the pharmicist will not refill. I am poisoning myself to stop the sores and itching and skin crawling. But The Dr. is right. As long as I remain in the same environment i will continue to suffer. It's unhealthy. I do not have the money to move anywhere and I get rental assistance due to disability so...I am paying an exterminator who will remedy the problem. I also read that they die instantly if sprayed with insectecide. I'm good right now. I'll keep in touch. I am going through menopause due to operation in April. found mass on ovary and removed both ovaries. It is not a symptom from menopause. I had this problem since 2010.

Enzymes that you can get at any store that carries health food type products. You will usually find them where air and upholster refreshers are. There are also detergents and cleaners that use enzymes. You can also find them where they sale mold and fungus killers. They also are sold on line in regards to Morgellons.

Hope this helps!

nasty little critters
hi everyone
I have had my face destroyed by these things.
I have found 3 useful products that dry them up. I know when your skin is moist or wet they start crawling again so keep dry.
I used a topical solution of clyndomycin 1%
on my face and it dries them up and also heals your skin. I have usen that for acne for many years.
The other thing that got rid of them on my arm was applying pure tea tree oil to the lesions. They were healed in days. you can get the pure oil at whole foods.

At night I put on good old fashin calamine to dry up the skin and stop the itch so I can SLEEP!! I don't know if u can ever kill them
but getting rid of fungus in your body will give them less to eat. Lets starve them!!!
I have done alot of research on this and am trying many things. good luck god bless

springtail allergy
I'm so glad to find other folks with this problem (but not glad you have it). The springtails affect me badly, but they don't seem to get under my skin or cause lesions--just the horribly infernal itching (including eyes, scalp, etc.). The last two years we had the exterior and interior of the house treated and that seemed to control them. This year, our wetest spring in decades, the treatment did not work! Please keep posting so we can share any help.

Springtails
Boric acid like Roach Proof which is 99% boric acid spread in a fine powder over your entire house, don't clean it up except in eating areas. Leave it as long as possible. This has gotten rid of springtails in our house. I am currently testing the value and side effects of using this on my person . Adding it to my bath. In the past centuries, boric acid has been used in so many health related benefits, including eye wash. This is the best I have found in 9 months. We have tried most everything. Wash in twenty team borax. Use enzyme cleaner on your person . It disolves the springtails. Mirofiber sheets, blankets and clothes; wash after each use. No cotten anything. This is difficult with towels. Keep all dirty clothes in air tight bags or plastic tubs.

If you feel for these tiny san, salt size hexapods on your skin and get them, you can drop them in a container with alchoal. We sent our samples, probably 100 or more to the state health department, and one...only one was an adult. But that is the one that has given us hope. Our doctor is now involved in helping us find answers.

We are trying different meds. Next i will do a ridged diet, eliminating sugar and carbs. It is so difficlt to fight.

have you all seen the doctor for this? I am just wondering because I am having similar symptoms. My GP thinks I am crazy and sent me to a therapist and gave me xanax.
I have an apt. with a dermatologist at the end of the month. I am hoping that they can do some skin scrapings to tell me what this is and where to go from there.

I've started using a Microbe flush by Natural Care. You take it twice a day for 16 days and once a day for a9 days and you go back to twice daily. It flushes Bacteria microbes, protozoa, yeasts and fungus. If uou take this I recommend a Probiotic afterward to restore the friendly bacteria that our body has. That or you can cleanse, and or take prebiotic, try Kombucha or SCOBY-symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It works wonders, taste is different, but is said to even help toxic and cancer patients. It helps with my ongoing sinusitus due to living in the central valley. Any cleanses, internally, colonic etc. Try natural things its probably Parasites, from unhiegenic prepared foods to animals , not washing hands etc. We all have parasites, Americans just wish to cover it up and finger point at other countries. Hope evrything comes out ok.

Hi there. I had this a few times a few months ago, just for 2 nights..Though ive had it the last 3 nights.

It's like a sensation of someone faintly brushing a hair on your body with a feather or something, i woulndt call it crawling really.

But yes its tough falling asleep with that going on lol..
I noticed today I had it all day at work too.

I smoke, drink coffee, not the best diet. I do have alot of showers and wondering if that could be it maybe somehow stripping the natural oils or moisture from my skin?

I dont have any anxiety or stress in my life.

I get the sensation pretty much everwhere, i dont think its any kind parasite or bug...just doesnt make sense really probably more to do with diet or some kinda defieciency...

I do work night shifts so dont get a lot of sun and not too active on the computer all day.

How is everyones skin does it seem dry or anything unusual?

The other day before going to bed i noticed a shadow move by the sink then seen something black like a fly, but i looked and there was no fly...

so my other conclusion is it could be like someone else said issues with the kidney. Only reason i think this is my dad had kidney issues and when he couldnt clean the toxins out of his body sometimes he would hallucinate spider or bugs on the roof, stuff like that..

not thought id throw my 2 cents in, i really have no clue can only guess, i expect it to be gone soon. GL everyone, and don't get worked up over it im gonna try a few things and see if i can get rid of it then ill get back.

Skin-crawling sensation, all over body
Your comments made a lot of sense to me. I am suffering from this crawling sensation all over my skin: legs, arms, shoulders, head, and feet. It's horrible! Oh, and on my hands, too! My dad had kidney disease as well, and I remember him hallucinating and trying to catch things in the air. I have recently done a lot of double-takes, as I see things moving or appearing to be next to me... but nothing's there. I do hope that this condition doesn't get worse. I'm going to try the items that the person before you, listed. It makes sense, too, that we ourselves introduce parasites and fungi into our own bodies without thinking twice about washing our hands sometimes. Thank you so much! Hope you write more later. My daughter, a doctor told me it was anxiety. I have to take a Benadryl also, in order to sleep and go to work the next day.

Its certian now that I do have springtail. And I have saved the springtail as proof could even make out visually under magnifacation the foot used to jump or spring.Along with many fibers and moltings casings as well. The fibers are produced by the srpingtail. It captures thier food in the wild something like a spider spins a web.I have pictures of springtail and the fibers from a specialists web site.I started taking salt bathes of half a box twice a day and they practially pored out of me most dead some just crawled out of me and left.Must have been many hundreds of them in mostly my scalp. Not many on main body. They often feed on mite eggs.First I had scabbies and I now think thats what atracted the springtail to me.Used a lot of composted leaves last spring to mulch my garden.I think the springtail sensed I was infected with scabbie eggs and saw me as a host.Selsum Blue good lather on scalp then a handful of salt is working very well. Has almost cured me.I did 20 minute to 40 minute soaks. The salt on the scalped stung bad at first. Now it does not.About 20 bathes so far only a couple of stings almost no fibers now. Much hair loss. They proabally ate my folicals may be pernament. The salt baths work!

My hair is falling out by the handful. I have crawling feelin in my head, arms legs face, feet toes you name it i itch. I am covered in lesions and infected bites also when I get stung in the same place it feeels like a bee sting. (this does not happen on my head (the stinging) I am allergic to bed bugs too. do you smell a stong musty smell when they ar eon the move? do they leave anything on your bed or blood spots from bites. When I smell the musty odor I know i am about to be swarmed. my throat closes and the bites leave lumps for a couple of hours. I have found a picture of them little things that look like tobacco with a stinger. these are all over including coming out og my skin. I have an exterminator for the next 6 months that I paid for myself as the property manager refused to treat for anything she could'nt see. told people i am hallucinating. It may be a combination of bed bugs and head lice and definately springtails. What kinf od salt did you use? I notice a big difference and no itching when I used head and body lice remedy. What should I tell my exterminator do? the Health Dept. id'd the springtails but the mangager only sprayed under kitchen sink and behind my washer. They are still here. I think all that little spraying did was work them up. do they bite cats? Can ypu see them with the naked eye when they are born? if not, when are they visible tonaked eye? went through the whole scabie thing, lice, bedbug infestation (But I saw them at night) the rest of this seems to be my answer. i will talk to the exterminator and health dept. do they gather in one place ? are they in your rugs, chair. desk. I am finding white salt sized sprinklies all over the place, desk, chair mattress cover, sheets etc. Help please. Tell me what you think and I will pray for you every night.

Hey guys. I'm having this happen to me alot. I'm telling everyone I have something crawling under my skin but no one believes me. The doctor also called me delusional and said I have nothing. Told me to go see a shrink. I can feel these things crawling inside me. All the time. In every party of my body. I'm going to try the salt baths. That seems like a good idea. Very disgusting though if these things are gonna be pouring out of my skin. Dead or alive. It'll freak me out some.

I'm gonna keep an eye on this page. Please guys if you find anything that works please post it. This really sucks. I think I have a crap load inside me.

skin crawling sensations and demon (jinn possession)
you know what.............................?
this is a spiritual internal problem.
a lot of these symptoms coincide with demon(jinn possesion) mentioned in arabic folklore and in the holly quran,
these jinns are another creation created by god (allah) that live on earth but in a different realm parralell to ours. they play with( possess people who have little or no faith (spirituality, godlessness),they can shape shift and show themselves in the form of animals including vermin insects etc etc.
how do i know this? well my friend who's a muslim used to suffer from these symptoms very bad and he went and saw a raqqi( muslim spiritual doctor) who then performed some islamic rituals (recitation of the qur'an) to get the demon to speak and then finally got the demon (jinn) to agree to leave his body (which it did) since the demon left he is fine no more of them skin crawling sensation and his skin has now cleared up but however this may not be the case for everyone but i bet this is the case for at least half the people because we are in a time where people lack spirituality and godlessness and ignorance are taking over so we are very open (sitting ducks) for these demons (jinn) to attack (possess us).
i actually witnessed the exsorsicsm and i swear to god i have never seen anything more scary (but amazing) like this.
since then i now read and learn about islam (from the books not the media) and i am now thinking of converting, but this is the truth you can go on youtube and type in jinn possession to see videos of this.
anyway all the best & may god help us all......................

Hey guys I'm trying a treatment to see if it works. I ingested sulfur through an epsom salt dose as the max recommendation on the box with water to get some of that inside my system. Then I used Witch Hazel to find where all these were. I felt them crawling then instantly put witch hazel on it. I could tell they dont like it cause they then move to different areas of my body.

Search out their breeding grounds. Look for puffy areas in the skin where inflammation is barely present. I had some in the sacks under my eyes, in my lips, the fat in my neck, some where there were "syst" looking things on my arms. Some puffy parts in my fingers feet and in groin area.

Just rub your skin everywhere looking for them. Then put this witch hazel on it. Instantly after doing so I can feel them crawling out of there. As if in panic. I then put this on all areas. Used some rubbing alcohol on all cuts or places I had bodily injure.

By this point I could feel them. I put so much around major parts of my body that I secluded the ones that were there. They wouldnt go into areas where I used the witch hazel. So I'd constantly use it where I thought they were hiding.

After this I took a bath in epsom salt. Soaking my body in rotation (the water didnt cover my entire body). You say that they can create air bubbles to protect themselves well I'm thinking that with the method I did they would retreat to the areas above water. Then 5 min later I would submerge that area.

I noticed the air bubbles escaping my skin as mentioned before. I put pressure on all spots I thought had eggs or egg areas. To help the water penetrate.

I am also taking benedryll (spelling?) and taking a healthy dosing of an acai berry mix. Which I've heard does wonders as well as boosting your immune system. Since drinking the acai berry alone I've noticed the amount of crawlies go down. My immune system is killing them off one by one. Tonight I feel they will kill the majority of the population.

Tomorrow I plan for a repeat the witch hazel/epsom salt thing along with a full body detox and some pro-immune system vitamins including b12.

I'm thinking that this swarm of help to my body will help my body kill off this parasite.

So far so good. I feel great. I feel very minor crawling but it feels like they're hurt. They crawl like less than a mm from where I feel them then stop. They're not moving fast at all.

I will keep you all updated. The acai berry mix has done wonders I'm telling you! We'll see how the rest of this helps.

Pyrithriones in a topical cream kill these bugs. They are a cause of acne, and they can cause you to have some mental disorders, strangely enough. Some people believe it is a conspiracy between dermatologist and psychologists to use big pharma so they all make money while lying to you. Based on that hypothesis it seems like a way to control peoples minds. After all, the average person believes nearly everything, if not everything their doctors tell them.

Then again, I could seem like a looney for saying something like that. :p

luckily enough for me, I'm not bothered by these bugs. I have a good friend who is, though, that's how I know about the pyrithriones. Also, they can live in fabrics. Try vaccuum sealing your clothes and sheets to see if that cuts back on the bugs.

One of the Collembola
I've been suffering from these little things for years, on and off. After a recent seismic event they were boosted out of control by the amount of displacement in the ground, and I've been left crippled by their activity recently, by being unable to sleep, followed by the inability to concentrate during the day. They are Collembola, and they have infested my skin. I had never seen one for sure, until TONIGHT!!! I caught one on a clean piece of electrical tape on my knuckle, and with the matte black background, you are able to see it, and luckily its a fat guy too, which won't be hard for my dermatologist to see. I'll be back to update.

I've recently been told about an organic Insecticide called Best Yet that the military uses to rid their clothes of sand fleas in the middle east. They describe these guys as being Hexapods, not Arthopods, which makes them immune to normal treatments as being such for scabies and different things that people may be initially diagnosed for. I've just ordered some of the Best Yet stuff, and I'll be back to let you all know if this helps as well.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WITH THIS Wink

Well, I now know what a collembola/springtail infestation is. A few days ago, I noticed some tingling/crawling sensation in my left foot in the shower. There is some tingling under my feet and also in my left hand/fingertips, then it spread to my other hand (the right hand on the top/not palms of my hands). I put some sulfur cream on and I experienced what the one commenter said, a salt crystal. I put it on a piece of tape but then threw it out, knowing that dermatologists/doctors just label us as DP (delusional parasitosis). I also felt itchy/biting/stinging sensations where there was tingling/crawling. So, I am going to definitely look into Diatomaceous Earth and Best Yet as the regular hot washer with detergent doesn't seem to do it. I do have a parasite zapper as that is supposed to zap parasites on and underneath your skin. I pray that God would give us the grace to endure this and the cure to end this! God bless and Jesus loves you all.
