Q: Skin Irritated With Bleach

Hi,

My mom went to some beauty parlor and they treated her with bleach on her neck to "make her skin whiter". Soon she developed what seems like a rash in the neck area, it's really white and it itches all the time. I recommended a cream for her (hydrocortisone) and she said it helped stop the itching but her skin still looks like it has a rash. Is there any way to restore her skin, or get rid of the rash permanently through other creams/medicines, or should she see a dermatologist?

Thank you.

Especially eHealthy
I had no idea people still dared to bleach skin these days, how Victorian!!

Anyway, I'd say if the pain is mostly cared for, give it a while to heal. If it doesn't after a week or so, then yes, go to a dermatologist.

Thank you Eiri. Yes, I didn't know what my mom was thinking, or maybe she just didn't know they were treating her with bleach, I don't know, but very unheard of.

We've actually given it plenty of time to heal on its own - 4 months - so I'll start looking for a dermatologist then.

Thanks again
