Q: Abscess On Throat???

Last week I noticed I had this whitish colored "lump" on the right side of my throat, on my tonsil. I decided to get it checked out by a doc, who said it was an abscess, prescribed Levequin and sent me on my merry way. He was amazed by the fact that I was in no pain, none whatsoever. The area around the "lump" is red, so he just assumed I was hurting, but I have no pain when swallowing, eating, etc. I have been on the Levaquin 4 days now, tomorrow is the last day on the antibiotic, and there has been no change to the "lump". I am wondering if anyone else has had this? What was needed to get rid of it? The only symptom I have from this, is a foul taste in my mouth occasionally when I swallow. It reminds me of the taste in your mouth when you have strept throat. What caused this? Should I be concerned??

Abscess
This is a very late post, but perhaps this may help others that read it.

If the Doctor swabbed it, then it may have come off. I've had that before where it was food which seemed odd because it didn't look like food. It looked like pus. I also just had an absess in my throat from again food. A piece got caught in my throat and formed a bacteria which turned into a very painful infection. You would know if it was absess believe me.

what is wrong with my throut???
i was sent to the hospital two weeks ago because of a lump in my throut..that was beyond painful it was an absess the doctor drained it and they said i needed to get my tonsils removed in sometime. so they gave me anitbiotics and i stayed in the hospital. it was all fine until the other day my left side got a puffy and red. Its hard to swallow and very painful. i noticed when i felt my neck in that spot there is two tiny bumps that were not there two weeks ago. Im scared.. could it be something other then just an absess. or could another illness i dont know about be making me ill in my throut???>.
