Shocked

It has happened twice! When my one year old gets upset from not getting her way she starts to cry but something changes. She tries to cry and is going through the facial expression of crying but nothing comes out. She gets really red and them completely passes out. She comes out of it pretty quickly and is fine but it is very scary! Went to doctor and they said it is a manipulative that children sometimes go through and nothing to worry about. She is actually holding her breath and knocks herself out.

Looking for a second opinion..........

That doesn't sound normal to me. Personally I would go to another doctor for a second opinion.

Baby Passing Out
I have a 14 month baby, and he has passed out 4 times in the last month. I have read, and understand that 5% of the babies have this "ability". I call it ability because it is use to Manipulate their parents. There is nothing you can do exept for NOT letting them have the things their way.

This moments involve a lot of tranquility and patience! Dont Panic!!!

My son has passed out in this fashion since he was about 6 months old (he's now 17 months). Some days it happens 3 times, some days once. We don't usually go a day without him passing out. From what I've read and been told, it is doing no long-term damage. It does happen in about 5% of children, so we're the lucky ones!

Be encouraged that you're not alone. Supposedly they grow out of it by 5-ish. Mine passes out from pain, too, not just not getting what he wants.

Smile Don't worry!

My son too use to do this (he is now 3yrs) it first happened when he was 12 wks old which was very very scarey.

He used to do this when he was in pain (he suffered with reflux) he grew out of it from about 8mths.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone and it is quite common, its shouldnt effect your child and they will grow out of it.

(this is not healthy or normal?????)
