I'm not really sure why they wouldn't do a blood test.I now have no insurance and go to a clinic.Every three months they do a blood test to check my thyroid.(I have hashimoto's thyroiditis,so they check it because, well,I explain it like a car that runs, but sputters out and then I may have to take meds to help it again)Some day I hope to just have it taken out. It's not a big deal to me,because you just take medication.
I never knew how important your thyroid is and how it effects so much of your body.
Anyway,if you'r still having issues,if it were me,I'd insist on a blood test. You can get information on thyroid online.I'm not telling you that's what it is,but I know what I went thru.
Here is a little info:The thyroid gland is located on the front part of the neck below the thyroid cartilage (Adam's apple). The gland produces thyroid hormones, which regulate body metabolism.
I've looked at medicinenet.com in their search box you can put thyroidits and it will give you information.
I find it's good to have information when you talk to a doctor,I just think some are turned off if you say you found it on,or someone told you on the internet.I find for me,depending on the doctor I put it like I've heard this or that.
But if you're still having issues, and this doctor won't do any more for you,I'd go back to your gp.They can even do just the bloodwork.I'm only making suggestions, not really telling you what you should do.No one should do that. It's just that if you're not getting help where you need, sometimes you have to be persistant.I used to just go along with the doctor. They do the best they can.But as a patient, I've had to take on my own responsibility and speak up for myself.
Check that site out. It'll give you good info.
