Q: Don't Want to Gain Weight!!

Ugh. So I have to go to a pp to get a new birth control prescription because my school insurance doesn't cover contraception. And I'm so irritated because I'm currently on Junel, but I'm afraid that the new doc won't let me stay on it because pp doesn't let people who have a history of migraines with visual auras use combined hormone bcps. (Because of the risk of stroke, but my last doctor, a np, knew nothing about this so she prescribed me with whatever I wanted)

The problem is, when I was on my last progesterone-only form of birth control, mirena, I gained 20 pounds (that I'm still burning off) and had acne worse than when I was 13.

I'm not going back on the mirena, but I'm so afraid that if I have to go on the mini-pill, I will gain more weight again and get my acne back that the Junel has helped me fix. Not to mention the fact that with the mini-pill there's no slush room about what time you take it, you have to be exact.

AHHH!!! Any suggestions??? I'm thinking maybe I just shouldn't tell them about the migraine part, but I don't like the idea of lying to doctors. And I'm doing so well with this pill....

Sorry, I just needed to rant to people who would actually understand what I was talking about.

I can't take the regular pill either because of the same reason as you - it's just not worth the risk. I've taken the mini pill in the past and it gave me spots. It's not as effective as the combined pill either.

Well, to be fair, it is effective, you just have to take it PERFECTLY. So yeah, I'm a little bummed about that too, I don't want to get preggo....

I wish they had birth control for men.

Condoms. Men should always, always, always wear condoms.

Sure, not as fun ~ but twice as healthy!

Yeah- but I'm married so we don't use them anymore. Well, we use them sometimes, but we don't rely on them.

He's threatened to get a vas before but I give him an evil look until he apologizes Wink
