Hey Guys and girl. I really need your help. Elenven months ago i got injured at a gym where i was wrestling almost every night. I had intense pain in my lower back so i was not active for weeks after. While resting three weeks after my upper back began to hurt in the afternoons. Since then its been hurting all day every day. So I began be I began to see a chiropractor and was recommended to get an MRI so i did. It tured out that I have a big herniated disc on my lower back and showed that my upper back was normal. I was told that it was compensating for my lower back injury. About three weeks after my lower back felt alot better with no treatment. through out time my upper back pain got more intense spread to my neck. I began to see a medical doctor was told to try cortizone injections because it has helped people with similar problems. So i did with little result. I have had a total of five and only one helped that I had on my neck but did not solve my problem. i have also tried massages, tens unit and acupuncture with little results. I was given tramadol and methocarbamol to help with the pain but I feel Ii need something stronger. Today I am using a invert table to try to help with my lower back though its not my biggest concern. My upper back has been causing so much pain and i feel that it is not getting better with treatments I have tried. Through out this entire time i have been told that it is probably a muscle related problem prossibly due to my lower back or stress. I just cant seem to understand why after all of this time with all of the treatments it hasnt got better. I dont dont know what it could be. The dontor says it is not unusual some someone to have muscle tension pain for this amount of time. i dont know if its true and i dont know what else i can do. I want o see a neuro surgeon for my disc herniation and his opinion. My current doctor says to me that they dont do surgery unless you feel numness. I dont but i do feel pain everyday on my lower back. I am thinkink that if I have surgery for the herniation it will also help my upper back. one of mycurrent doctors says that they are unrelated. Its been close to a year and my upper back is causing me so much pain and dont know what is causing it. The MRI shows that its normal. Im desperate. Does any one have any ideas on what it could be or what do do or if you think its normal for a muscle problem to last this long? Please write back.
Thec. From your post, it was hard for me to determine just how many doctors you have gone to and which kind. You do mention your medical doctor and you said you wanted a neuro doctor.
In regards to your MRI. If it is a year old, perhaps you need a new doctor and a new MRI. It would seem to me that you do need a good orthopedic spinal specialist. A good pain management doctor also would help. If you continue in pain and get no satisfaction from you present doctors, search out a new doctor. Many of us have gotten opinions from multiple doctors in our research to find what is the best treatment to help our back problems. So keep looking for help. There has to be one out there in the medical field who can determine the cause of your pain.
Pain is miserable when you know what is wrong but it can be depressive when you don't know what the problem is.
