So I'm Sittin In the Looney Bin.......... Posted: 09-16-07 15:23pm
So I'm sittin in the looney bin one day,
not the big serious looney bin but the
little looney bin, taking my pills of
course, seeing my "doctors" on a daily
basis, and something goes horribly wrong.
My freaking fool of a psychiatrist decides
that I need the care of a state hospital,
ya know, with the violent ones and the
ones that can't wipe their own butts. So
he makes the desicion and I'm hopeless, my
life was over at that point, I began
thinking about what a lobotomy would feel
like.
And then something weird happened, the
order was in and I was basically on my way
to this hell hole. The very next day,
after this wonderful man decided that I
needed this, he has a heart attack, he is
placed in the other side of the hospital
for "caring" and I don't think that I ever
saw him again.
That's not the end of it though, I am
appointed a new psychiatrist, and this guy
is an old hippy grateful dead fan, he was
actually at that one concert where there
was the riot, in indiana. Anywho, this
guy is obviously intelligent,
understanding, I mean he's got it all.
We talk for a bit, and we decide something
a little unorthodox, we are going to do a
trial of no medication and see what
happens, so I stop taking the medication
and nothing happens for weeks on end. I
am freaking released from this hospital
without any diagnoses and that's that. I
went from needing to be locked up in a
state hospital to "you're free to go".
So my question to you is, what?!

That's a pretty freaky story. I myself had
a doctor that was screaming at me because
I suggested I don't need a higher dose, he
was saying: "is this sickness real or
not!?". Then they changed the doctor I was
seeing and the next one just said: "if the
medication doesn't make you feel better,
throw it in the garbage!"

He said that? What the hell is that
supposed to mean, is this sickness real or
not? I wonder what he knew when he said
that.

My mom told me that way back in the day
that teenagers were sent to the looney bin
if they did something they weren't
supposed to do. My mom when she was about
14 stole my uncles car and got in a
accident. For that she was sent to the
loony bin. No questions.
People were sent because they disobeyed
their parents.
Be grateful we don't live in that era.

I did immediatly get the sense that I was
being protected, that something was
involved in his heart condition, the
coincidence was just to strong, the timing
to great. This should always happen, you
wanna try and lock somebody up that
doesn't need to be locked up you get a
heart attack, this world has been rooted
in injustice for to long, it's just gotta
stop. The world would be so much better
if an instant heart attack was the price
for hurting somebody else.
Yeah, i'm glad I don't live in those
times, however, we need not forget them,
somebody should pay for that crap, or what
I'm trying to say is it has got to be made
right, those people suffered immensely and
wrongly and it still hasn't been made
right. I don't know how to make it right,
but I believe that somebody does, and it
should happen, now.

Well, I still hear of people being sent
there in the US because they smoke dope
and skip school.

People aren't given lobotomies anymore.
Learn before you judge.

It's normal to have automatic fears based
on past behaviours of the medical
profession. Even if things have changed.

I think the most important part of this
story is that you need to shop around and
be with a doctor who you really trust.

Well, I'm sorry. I guess you have
researched it, and people are RARELY given
lobotomies.

The point is not whether people are given
lobotomies or not. The original poster
said he had visions of being given a
lobotomy because he was going to the state
hospital. These fears and associations are
founded not on the fact that people are
still given lobotomies but on these
hospitals' past, and are quite normal.
The original poster went on to describe
two different psychiatrists at the
hospital, hence the need to "shop around".
The "shopping around" does not pertain to
lobotomies.

A year?? feel sorry for you I was also locked
up for 6 months in the UK and misdiagnosed
by a horrible consultant I wish he to
would have a heart attack I was then given
a new consultant and he immediately
retired
So I am given a new consultant who was
clueless with me and for what he did I
hope the devil takes him and he drops down
dead(a F****** W*****) in my opinion, he
is not allowed to see me anymore and I
don't need to see a consultant any longer
its been decided.
Yes I have been in 3 mental institutions
when I had a panic attack on the way to
the USA and the plane was diverted to
Bangor Main where they did all sorts of
tests on me heart and also had a cat scan
on me brain and the scan showed no deffect
in my brain The boody
******* went through me walet and took me
return flight home of me. So I was
thinking I am stuck thousands of miles
from home, whats going to happen
Then they transferred me else where and as
they thought I had scitzo they went stuck
a needle in me and man It made me so tired
I couldnt do anything and the next day I
was transfered to another place and this
injection was still active in me body and
I was so tired I couldnt stand up?
Then I was transferred to a big state
mental institution and was sectioned for a
few weeks got on well with the other
amercians and couple had a fancy for me
yes
I thought I was never going back to the UK
They kept pumping
me up on medication and increasing as
well. This was in Washington DC and I
phoned the British Embassy up to release
me and 10 pone calls later a woman from
the BE came to see me and she got me
released and I got from the USA back to
the UK was very happy
USA institutions are far more strick than
in the UK as I found out
