hi all,

a few weeks ago i started a job working with hydraulic oil. The first week was fine and a few days into the second week i was asked to clean out a tank of filthy oil. I did wear gloves and overalls but the overalls wernt waterproof and the gloves were loose, so the oil soaked into the knees (where i had been leaning) and also into the arms and wrist area, also oil seeped down the gloves.

As i was leaving work that day my knees started itching. then the next morning i started itching on my kness, my ankles and also my arms and on my hands. Areas which may have come into contact with the oil

Over the last few nights it has been alright, mainly because i was applying TCP.

How do i get rid of this ? ive been taking precautions not to come into contact with any more oil by wearing gloves etc, will it go away by its own ?

The rash itself is like red patches in some areas slightly bumpy

Do you have health insurance?

Anyone else you know from work showing the same symptoms?

it doesnt matter now, its cleared up and ive left that job. there was no chance i could avoid the oil at all times, and i think its just that i have sensitive skin

no one had the symptoms but i think my employer had the 'we'll assume he knows' kind of approach rather than telling me the health and safety stuff

there is no lasting damage ie scars etc

thanks for the reply anyway
