Cracked Skin

I have a split in the skin behind my right ear where it connects to my head. It gets a scab but, cracks open because of my excessive dry skin. I read an article about this a couple of years ago but, can't find it now, The article stated that I was missing some vitimins or minerals in my diet. I would like to know if anyone knows anything about this.

It could be just a case of excsema, i used to have it and i just creamed it with moisturiser and it went away just fine.
