Hey - im 15 and i've had female epispadias since I was born. I've had various operations on my bladder (e.G - culpo or is it colpo suspension, bladder neck reconstruction, micro-plastique injections various times, urethral reconstruction etc), infact, just about all the ones my consultant could dream up, and i'm still not cured.

I have now reached a stage where the only option left is to have a mitrofanoff? I think teh spelling's right. I have just over a month now to reach my decision about whether to have it or not as there is now a risk to my kidneys (due to high bladder pressure) and it's obviously concerning my doctor a great deal....And myself.

I was wondering if anyone has had this operation and could give me feedback on what it's like? I have no idea what to expect and I would be very grateful to recieve a personal response to what this operation is like to live with etc.

I have asked my doctor questions but he can only technically answer them from a medical point of view and i'm too embarassed to meet up with someone in person who has had this operation performed on them to get answers with my questions.

Any feedback would be appreciated, but if anyone has had it done then please heeeelp!

Thank you x.
