ive been having severe pain in my hands & ankles and now, my right knee. its constant pain and i cant bend my fingers anymore, move my hands back without pain and it hurts to walk. i'm in my 40's and dont have medical insurance nor do i qualify for MediCal Benefits. i have been taking 800 MG ibuprofin but it doesnt relieve the pain or swelling. i just started drinking hard liquor which does relieve the pain but i dont want to have to drink alchohol on a daily basis to relieve the pain. what can i do? this has been going on for almost a month now. please help ASAP!

I would definitely go to a doctor, this sounds like many things, from arthritis to lupus....

I may be wrong, and I hope I am sir, but I believe I know these symptoms. I was taught to train elders who may have age related disorders/injuries, arthritis being one of them. There are two main types, osteoarthritis, which is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage in joints (basically due to old age, where the cushioning in the bones are worn out), and Rheumatoid Arthritis. If you feel severe pain in the joints on all your fingers, toes, knees, any joint in general, and it swells, you could have Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is an autoimmune disease in which your body tissues are mistakenly attacked by its own immune system, thus the pain and swelling of joints. It's usually common in hands, shoulders and elbow. During my time working on getting my personal training certification, I was volunteering in a nursing home/care facility and I met a man with rheumatoid arthritis, he had huge swelling on his finger joints and knees, pain killers and the like will not do much because the pain will continue to increase. As the ladies said before me, you must go to the doctor, if it is rheumatoid arthritis, your pain can decrease (as the man himself told me over the week and half that he feels much better).
