Q: Throat Infection

I'm 45 years-old. I've been on antibiotic for six days for possible strepe. While the severity of it has lessened, I still have pain when swallowing and pain and swelling in my throat and in my glands on both sides of my neck. Plus I just feel lousy. I'm pretty sure I'm too old for Mono, but what else could it be?

The glands might still be swollen as you are fighting the infection. Generally, I think it takes 10-14 days of straight antibiotic to kill the Strep bacteria. The infection may still be present, although some symptoms have subsided.
