Pre-eclampsia Posted: 09-13-07 12:20pm
Ok well with my first pregnancy, I was
diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and was
induced into labor at 36 weeks. It came on
very suddenly. My blood pressure at the
time of hospitalization was 190/119--which
is VERY high for me.
My question is, does anyone know if the
pre-eclampsia will come back when I get
pregnant again? I'm pretty sure it will,
just wanted to know if anyone else had
this experience and can give me some
insight.

No. It does not. You may have a higher
risk with your second pregnancy than
someone who has never had pre-eclampsia,
but it does not mean it will come back.
I had it with my first pregnancy and did
not have it with my second.

Is there anything that your doctor advised
you to do/not to do the second time
around? Or was it pretty much the same
things? Did your second pregnancy feel
better than the first because you did not
have pre-eclampsia the second time?
My pregnancy was miserable.
My fiance and I are thinking about trying
for another child sometime when our first
turns 2 (around June)...

Nope. My second pregnancy was far worse. I
had sciatica from the time I was 9 weeks
until delivery. It was the most painful,
awful thing ever. My husband said we would
never have another child because of it.
Halfway through the day I'd be in tears I
was in so much pain. Sometimes I couldn't
even walk as far as the mailbox. And
forget about going up stairs. UGH!
As far as the pre-e goes, my doctor for my
first pregnancy never acknowledged that I
had it. My TEACHER told me to ask my
doctor about it. He said I shouldn't worry
about it. When I showed up at the hospital
in labor the nurse started hooking me up
to this iv bag and I asked what it was for
and she said, "Its magnesium sulfate for
your toxemia, dear." As if I was an fool
and should have automatically known that.
I told her I didn't HAVE toxemia and she
said, "Oh yes, yes you do." GAH! I had to
get that mag sulfate drip for 2 days after
delivery.
My second pregnancy, the doctor was really
pretty cautious about it and checked often
but there was never any trace of it.

Sciatica......
I had lower back pain on my left side
(felt like it was my left hip) starting 8
weeks into my pregnancy. It would get SO
bad that I couldn't move or I would tear
up. Usually would happen when I laid on
the floor or something. I asked my doctor
about it and he said it was nothing.
It still to this day comes and goes. When
I'm laying on my back on the floor, I
can't even get up.
You think that could be sciatica?

Maybe it is just old age (haha!).

I had it with both of my pregnancies. On
bed rest for the last month or so for each
- and was induced early with each. The
blood pressure was not as high the second
time - but the swelling was worse.

preeclampsia Posted: 01-21-08 19:01pm
hi ladies,
i have now 4 beautiful children, severe
preeclampsia wiht our first, emergency c
and i was in a coma, it was a traumatic
time. baby and i struggled but both made
it home.
in each of the following pregnancies i had
traces of protein and the high blood
pressure but no where like the first. at
19years old first bub, i felt i was going
to have heart attack,
now going through 4 difficult deliveries i
want ot be a midwife, i love babies, and
more so pregnant people.
i have learnt alot in the last while about
preeclampsia as a metabolic disorder.
If considering another pregnancy i would
suggest looking at dr brewers book, on
preeclampsia, he suggests that by
increasing the protein dramatically many
are having positive outcomes wiht lowering
hypertension, also with swelling not to
cutout the salt as the body swells to try
to maintain sodium. there is a reason why
things happen, and alot is nutrient
deficiency in my opionion. All the best
ladies knowledge is power.

MIST Test Information Posted: 10-10-08 14:13pm
I read your blog posting and would like to
share some information about the MIST
test. It is a noninvasive test, which is
able to determine if hypertension or
preeclampsia will develop and can be done
as early as 16-22 weeks into pregnancy.
This test allows you and your doctor to
know 2-3 months in advance if you will
develop preeclampsia and can put you on a
treatment plan. This can save both your
pregnancy and your unborn baby’s life.
Visit http://www.misttechnologies.com
/ for more information or ask your
doctor for your MIST test.
