Ok. like alot of other questions i am wondering if i am pregnant. . i am irregular but i'm going on 2months and no signs of pd! my stomach kinda hurts but i dunno what it could be! i took a preg test and it said neg. but i think it might have been too early! (if i were to be preg though, i would only be a few weeks, month TOPS.) I don't take Birth Control but i heard it can prevent pregnancy and even cause abortions. I also didn't mean for this to happen and it's a long story, and anything i can do to prevent a pregnancy would be my best bet. (i apologize if my solution offends anyone.)

My question is if i am preg. does anyone know if taking birth control NOW can help prevent it?

PLEASE HELP! Sad

If you missed your period because you were pregnant, a pregnancy test would be positive.

Birth control does not abort babies, but it's possible that it could maybe cause birth defects. If you are ever faced with an unwanted pregnancy, please get a proper abortion. Trying any "home" methods could cause you to get a fatal infection.

Unlike the previous poster, I'll say right now that birth control in the early stages of pregnancy does NOT cause birth defects. It also does NOT cause abortions.

All that birth control does is PREVENT pregnancy, but only if taken at least one week before intercourse, and continued on properly for as many months as you want to be protected.

No, starting birth control now will NOT prevent a pregnancy. If you are pregnant, then you're pregnant, period. The only way it can be undone now is with a legal, proper abortion. We can help you on the Abortion Support forum if that's your intention.

First however you need to find out of you're really pregnant. A test should have been positive by now, but give it two weeks and test again. In the meantime, schedule yourself a Pap Smear. They can determine pregnancy in the office with a urine test as well, plus the physical exam can determine pregnancy. Furthermore, if you're not pregnant, they can search and find a reason as to why you aren't having a normal period, AND, get you on proper birth control.

oh ok. i was confused about the birth control thing because i read on this doctors site that if you start taking birth control it somehow makes your lining in your uterus thicker and prevents the baby from growing and it enables its ability to become nourished. but thats only in the early stage. That's why i was asking because i thought pretty much the same things that you told me, ya know? well, thanks alot! i'm glad my replies were both really helpful.

you don't think under a month preg would be too soon for the test to read hormones?

You probably saw information on the "ABORTION PILL", NOt birth control.

BIRTH CONTROL is a pill you take EVERY DAY, it stops you from ovulating, if you do not ovulate, then you do not get pregnant.

no, no, it was birth control. I know about the abortion pill too and i know it wasn't the thing i was reading about. That's why i got a little skeptical about reading that birth control can do that. a friend of mine also told me that using bc in my position would be a good idea because another friend of ours did that and it worked for her. but ya know, that still may not be true. i looked for a planned parenthood in my area so i plan on calling them to clear my confusion.

but thanks for the advice!

Early response tests can detect pregnancy as early as two weeks after implantation.

Birth control pills THIN the lining of your uterus. If they thickened it, then the zygote would have an excellent place to land!! Birth control pills do this all month long, not just initially. This is why your period is often lighter on birth control.
