Menstrual Discharge... Any Info Would Be Appreciated!
Posted: 09-12-07 20:53pm

My period this month started around the day it should have, I had a slight brown discharge, which in the past I've had before that only lasted a day or two, so I figured it would go away. It has been over a week now and I am still having a brown discharge with very minimal menstrual bleeding. I don't have stomach pains or cramping, there is no odor, itching or burning. Why am I having this kind of discharge for so long? I'm a lesbian, so I can rule out pregnancy. I did have intercourse the day before I noticed the discharge. (I can also say that my partners hands were clean!) I have gained about 10-15 lbs. in the last few months. Could I possibly have the beginnings of a yeast infection or is my body just flushing out old blood? Should I see my GP or wait it out a few more days to see if it goes away on its own?

This sounds like it is just an 'off' month for you. It doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about. Sometimes our flow is heavier and sometimes it is lighter.

Please seek help from your doctor if you are overly concerned - or you keep bleeding.

A yeast infections doesn't usually effect the lining of your uterus. It itches like mad and it smells like you are baking bread in your undies. There is also a thick discharge.
