Alex Jones Arrest In Nyc
Posted: 09-12-07 19:41pm

So let me get this straight, in order for you to use a bullhorn, you need a permit. Yet, NYC is not giving out permits. Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Is this just a preview of things to come? This reminds me of the 1937 Marihuana stamp act. Pretty soon are we going to outlaw free speech? Everyday, i just want to move out of this country. I mean rich celebs are doing it. I hope once bush leaves office everything would be ok again.

i certainly don't mind.

who the hell wants a bunch of fools running around town disturbing the peace while screaming insults and acting like complete idiots?

No one other than riot control has the need to be loud and obnoxious. Nobody needs to get a point across THAT badly.

Alex Jones wasnt around acting like a complete fool. Plus, this is new york city, you have idiots running around being worse than loud and obnoxious. But thats not my question. My question is WHY. WHY did New York City ban bullhorns unless you have a permit and then not hand them out. Whether you like the message or not is irrelevant.

The demonstrators had tried to obtain a "permit" for the protest but were refused by authorities. Officers later ticketed Jones for "using a sound device without a permit".

maybe its because theres a lot of unnecessary protesting going on and the city wants to control it because the other residents don't deserve to have to listen to it.

and perhaps they thought his argument was superfluous.

Yes, we aren't getting the whole story here.

You failed to post a link.

You failed to mention there were other protesters! I'd gotten the view that there was one man wandering the streets of NYC screaming through a megaphone.

What was this man AND his supporters protesting?

WHY were they refused a permit?

the prostest was amist a FOX News coverage. Fox news has cameras reporters and they also are making their fair amount of noise. A lot of unnecessary protesting? Are you a communist? Who deems whats necessary and whats not? Maybe we should start banning piercings on body parts and you better not protest because its not necessary.

Here, at least we will all know what the OP is referring to.

http://infowars.com/articles/alex/ale x_jones_arrested_nyc_update.htm

NEW YORK - Media activist Alex Jones was arrested by New York Police Department officers while filming a documentary about the sixth anniversary of September 11th and joining the protest against the official version of what happened on 9/11.

According to Infowars sources Jones was singled out by police from the head of a crowd of about 400 9/11 Truth Activists and protesters. He was verbally accosted and forced by the police officers to present identification which he was not carrying at the time.

NYPD officers arrested Jones for "unspecified charges" and removed him from the protest crowd to be taken to the nearest police precinct where he was later released following a protest outside the jail by other 9/11 truthers who chanted "let him go".

nah dont pardon me. I dont get mad, im just passionate about what i say. You want to call it getting mad? go ahead, ill still sleep good at night. thank you sillyakchick, i was going to post that. Im trying to look for a conservative spin on it but cant seem to find it. What i dont like is that our American troops are dying in iraq for our "freedom" and yet this guy gets arrested for protesting.

lmfao.

yes, im a communist. Rolling Eyes grow up and stop using words you don't understand. Stick to the 4-letter type you are used to.

Its OK Eiri.. no offense taken. I'm pretty unaffected by ignorant opinions.

Somebody is just getting extremely offended that some random guy couldnt go about screaming his head off to a bunch of people that more than likely didnt want to hear him.

don't go spouting off about freedom of speech either. Because although it IS freedom of speech, its not freedom of *unnecessary pandemonium. *

I love the fact that you deflect the right to protest by simply saying "its pandemonium". It is freedom of free speech maybe you are not familiar with the bill of rights, let me explain it to you better.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
and your arguement is "its too loud and obnoxious" that is what i find laughable.
as you can see this is not the first time him being arrested by just asking questions and protesting.
http://www.youtube.co m/watch?v=aoyn_doplUM

the actual protest. AGAIN, you are allowed to protest in peace, not you are allowed to protest if everybody agrees with you and there is a not as much noise. My 4 letter words make a lot more sense than your ignorant, close minded, "big letter" words. your a joke.

I AM A NEW YORKER and I find it digusting that this happens in my city.

I want everyone to be sure to know that he was arrested on "unspecified charges". He was removed from the protest and later released.

Here is more of the article:

wrote:
The demonstrators had tried to obtain a "permit" for the protest but were refused by authorities. Officers later ticketed Jones for "using a sound device without a permit".

However, other people who were simply filming the arrest were also arrested themselves.

Alex said the arresting officer was overbearing and that having the cuffs slapped on him hurt more than when he cut his finger off in a boating accident.

The officer physically charged and assaulted individuals who were not even involved in the protest, such as Discovery Channel cameramen.

Alex Jones' cameraman Rob Jacobson was also pushed by cops and then punched in the shoulder for "obstructing police business" despite the fact that he was stood well away from the area on the sidewalk.

Two British cameramen who were part of the We Are Change UK group were also arrested for "blocking traffic".

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene where police simply waded in, assaulting and arresting people on a whim, but noted that Alex Jones was singled out immediately after cops arrived.

Geraldo Rivera and Fox News chiefs were responsible for calling the police and having protesters arrested.

The group were told that they didn't have a permit to protest. A permit is government permission to do something that would otherwise be illegal - meaning the right to peaceably assemble and free speech as defined in the Constitution have been officially outlawed.

Thought I'd never say this....

I'm with you everyday struggle!! Take me with you when you leave the country!!

The policing of protests is always ridiculous. People are protesting, so the police run out and try to stop them. I never get it, and it happens EVERY time.

Protests are supposed to be loud, they are supposed to get people's attention. If you don't want to hear the message, yes it's annoying. But it's the point of protesting.

Police arrested people in protests against Vietnam too.
