Hi there,

Im a 24 year old pretty healthy female, who for the past 3 months or so have been experiencing my heart beat problem. I have had palputations before, But i have noticed that when it gets to night time and im all relaxed, i can feel my heart jumping. When i check my pulse, every 10-20 beats, it will just stop and miss up to 2 beats. It feels so horrible. Its not painful at all but makes me feel very sick and i cant get my breath.

Its really not a nice sensation and there is noting i can do to stop it. When i get it on a evening, i wake up in the middle of the night GASPING for air, as if my body as just stopped breathing. Its so scary.

Im going to the doctors this friday but i know they will just send me for a egc scan. I Was just wondering if anyone had the same Gasping sensation in the middle of night like i do. Im also wanting to start trying for a baby with my partner, but we are worried of putting any type of strain on my heart.

Please help me. Its so scary

Thank You

well obviously check it out but i was having similar things at night like whenever i was really relaxed or about to fall asleep my heart would feel like it was beating with a lot of force and abnormally fast. THUMP! and sometimes it felt like it was missing beats.

i went to the doctor they ran all the tests and my heart came back perfectly healthily but i ended up having an overactive thyroid. not a big deal, it was some temporary thyroid problem that can happen to anyone, it cleared up in a few months, the gave me some extremely small dose of a beta blocker to slow it down and it worked well.

just to let you know, if you life in the USA and go to the emergency room, if you tell then your heart feels weird and your having palpitations they take you immediately without waiting or paperwork.

thyroid is somewhat common cause of these irregular heart beats, I'm an 18 year old male and it happened to me, its possibly caused by stress I've heard... i think that was the case for me.. but ya I'm totally fine now about to start swimming this fall for my college! Smile
