Very Happy I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to all of the other ladies in the forum...Any advice or pointers on helping to conceive would be much appreciated!

Welcome Rachel!!

I'm sure you'll love it here. There are so many wonderful and knowlegable ladies here. My name is Christy I'm 21. Me and dh have been ttc for almost 9 months now. We can offer many tips, how aggressive do you want to be? Is this a 'I want it to happen as soon as possible and use everything I can to make it happen' or a 'when it happens it happens' type thing? Either way, there is advice we can give.

I'm sure more of the ladies will be along soon to introduce themselves

Hi Rachel,

My husband and I have been trying on and off for almost a year, but really trying the last 2 months. I had to take a 4 month break in the last year.

Like Christy said, there are several things you can do to get pregnant.

You can chart your temps which will let you know when you ovulate. Go to fertilityfriend.com or mymonthlycycles.com for some good info.

You can also use ovulation predictor kits which tell you when you will be ovulating. when you get a positive on them, you will ovulate within 12-48 hours.

Welcome to the forum!

Heather

Hi Christy & Heather!
Thank you guys so much for the replies...I guess it's safe to say that I would prefer to get pregnant as fast as possible (being a woman and all, I hate waiting!) but I'll try for as long as it takes! I've done a lot of reading online about how to boost your chances of conception and stuff...But I just wasn't too sure where to start, ya know? This month will actually be our first month trying, so I just want to be sure I'm doing all I can (without making it no fun at all for the poor hubby-to-be!) Surprised)~ I will definitely check out those websites - thanks so much for the tips, lovelies!

Hi Rachel, My name is Shannah I am 29 and the mother of two awesome children. I suffered a miscarriage in July and I am getting ready to start TTC really soon. It is a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid even before you get pregnant. (you may be already I just thought that I would mention it).

Welcome to ehealth and hopefully it doesn't take you too long to get your BFP.
Sending you tons of baby dust!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Shannah!
I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage; I will keep my fingers crossed that you get preggers nice and quick!
I actually JUST started taking prenatals yesterday; I had read somewhere that it was good to start taking them when ttc. Would you recommend taking both folic acid AND a separate prenatal? I know that prenatals have folic acid IN them, so I wasn't sure if both would be necessary. But, as I said before, I'm brand new to this so I have pretty much no idea of what I'm doing! Lol!
Thank you so much for the baby dust! Right back atcha, babe!

You should be just fine with just the pre-natal. It has folic acid in it so you will get what you need from that. I asked my doctor about taking a multi vitamin on top of my pre-natals and he said that it isn't necessary. That you get what you need from a pre-natal. So I stoped the multi.

For starters, do you know when your fertile time is? When was your last period and how long are your cycles? This will at least help you get an idea when you need to bd.

Good luck

Hey Rachel,

For each of my pregnancies I always took a prenatal vitamin plus 1mg of folic acid which you can buy separately. I was told that you can't take too much folic acid. I just figured that I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. Hope that helps and again everyone will have their own opinion on things so it is definitely up to you. A prenatal has more then a multi-vitamin so no you wouldn't have to take an extra one of those but it wouldn't hurt to get a little more folic acid.

Hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask me any questions. Thanks for the baby dust, I hope that it doesn't take too long for both of us!! Even though the ''trying'' part is so much fun..lol

Hi Rachel! Welcome!

My name is Rebecca, I am 29 and have been ttc for about 2 years. One thing that I wish I would have done when I first started ttc was to do ovulation predictors. I do not ovulate on my own, and didn't find that out until about 4 months ago. So, I put myself thru alot of grief and stress that I could have avoided. I would just say try them for just a month, and if you get a good positive then you know you ovulate.

Good luck, and I hope you get your BFP quick!!!

Hi Rebecca!
Thank you so much for the welcome, and for the tip! I actually just went to Wal-Mart the other day and picked up some ovulation predictors; my cycle used to be so regular, but for the past few years it's been kind of erratic, so I figured these would help me figure out when I'm ovulating a little better. Smile
Ya know, I have a good friend who's also been ttc for 2 years, and I wonder if that could be her problem, too...She's going to see a fertility specialist soon, but I'll mention to her that she might want to give the ovulation predictors a shot as well. Thank you so much! Lots of baby dust to you!
Thank you, everybody for all of your advice!! Smile
