I am 41 and have been feeling abdominal
flutters on the upper left side of my
abdomen. I have had three children and
can only describe it as the first feelings
of movement during pregnancy! I am not
preganant and would love to know what I'm
feeling!

Abdominal Flutters Posted: 12-31-07 12:01pm
I just turned 43 years old and I am also
not pregnant. I have been having flutters
on my lower left side for the last 4 days.
Mainly when I am sitting or lying down.
Nothing painful, just annoying. The last
person wrote about caffeine. realized I
have started drinking a lot of green tea
in the last few days..... I am actually
going to the doctor today for a sinus
infection and I am going to ask about
this. I will let you all know. Thanks
for all the great input.

I am 43, don't think I am going thru
menopause yet. I have been experiencing
fluttering on the left side of my abdomen
for about a month now. It does feel like
when you are pregnant.... no chance of
that. I had a tubal ligation 7 years
ago, after my second child was born. It
is not painful, just annoying. Anyone who
has experienced this or something similar
and know what this is ... please, any
knowledge will be acceptable.

New to the site... Posted: 04-15-08 16:02pm
Hello everyone! I found this site while
doing a search online and I am so happy to
have finally found something on these odd
twitches I keep having, but I am surprised
to see that it's posted in relation to
menopause!
I am 30 and have been having some kind of
problem for about two years now, although
I'm not short on having a diagnosis, I'm
not sure what the doctors say make sense.
Let me try to sum up these last two years
and hopefully someone can make more sense
of all this than I can...
Two years ago had symptoms of urinary
tract infection. Went to docs about two or
three days later. Doc didn't think it was
a UTI, decided it was an sexually
transmitted disease, even though I argued.
Doc performed a PAP, along with tests for
STDs. PAP came back normal. Month later,
same thing, went back to the doctor and
was given a three day antibiotic. Another
month later, same symptoms (they never
went away). Had a fit at docs office,
asked for more antibiotic thinking it was
b/c doc ignored it too long (a month after
first visit). Doc had gall to yell at me,
I walked and went somewhere else! BTW... I
didn't have insurance at the time, so I
wasn't happy with her just taking "shots
in the dark". Made a visit to local urgent
care, they agreed they thought it was a
UTI, gave me a urinalysis. Following week
called to get results and was told they
didn't know, then was told it was positive
for infection. Called back to ask more
questions b/c I was confused and was told
the last person I spoke to was wrong, that
the test must have been contaminated.
By that time it went from the usual UTI
symptoms, to odd ones, such as bloating
REALLY bad whenever I would eat so much as
one bite of food, regardless of what kind
of food it is. To eat half a small meal, I
would bloat and look about 7 months prego!
My moods were starting to become just off
the wall and sex drive... out the window!
Finally got another doc and insurance. Was
sent to an Ob/gyn. Ob tried to perform a
test, which she couldn't and for some odd
reason seen it necessary to send me to a
gastro doctor. Made that appt and found a
new ob/gyn too!
Gastro performed EGD & colonoscopy,
said I had a small hiatial hernia and Gerd
(which I could have guessed on my own). Ob
performed laparo, said I had endometriosis
and numerous adhesions, not to mention
that one of my tubes was completely
blocked and stuck to the side of the
uterus (?). First he said he removed the
endo, then he said he didn't, so I don't
know what he did or didn't do! But he
didn't touch my tubes or the adhesions, I
know that.
Also during this time I was sent to a
kidney doctor who had me pee in a cup and
he said nothing was wrong with me and sent
me to a urologist. The urologist performed
hydro-distention on my bladder and said I
had IC.
The gastro doctor put me on one daily med
for the gerd and the uroligist put me on
three meds a day. The stuff for the gerd
worked miracles, the other three did
nothing whatsoever and I quit taking them
after a couple months.
Also, I have a history of ovarian cysts.
Two years later I swear I feel like I am
going through Menopause, but at 30 they
look at me more like I am going out of my
mind... which it kind of feels like that
too!
My moods are awful, I'm fine one minute,
ready to cry the next, and likely wanting
to knock someone upside the head all the
time. Most of the time I am just down
right crabby, but can't seem to help it.
I barely eat anymore as I just don't get
hungry. I know I need to eat b/c I'm not
that big of a person by nature (5'2, 98lbs
until two years ago and I'm lucky to hit
90lbs now). When I make myself eat it only
makes me feel worse, I get sick to my
stomach and dry heave like I'm going to be
sick, but never am, just get gaggy. I've
also gotten this mysterous swelling around
my left hip bone to the point I can't feel
the bone or see it, but docs again think
I'm talking out my butt b/c not one thus
far has even looked at it! One sent me for
an xray, but that's it!
The thing is... I also went of BC pills
two years ago, just after the whole thing
with the UTI that may or may not have been
an actual UTI. Up until then, I had been
on the BC pills since I was 19 (about nine
years or so). Could that have some baring
on what I'm going through?
I've outright asked a doctor to check my
hormones, which she did on the spot one
time and said I was fine, there was
nothing wrong with my hormones. Don't
understand how she could come to that
conclusion when she had nothing to compare
it to other than the average, but I'm
already below average height, weight etc.
Always have been and anyone who has ever
met my mother isn't surprised, we're just
petite.
I've switched to yet another doc, but
can't see him until next month b/c of my
insurance, but based upon what I've wrote,
does anyone have any advice for me,
anything I should ask specifically b/c I
know my own body and something is wrong
and whatever it is IS getting worse little
by little?
Again, ANY advice would be appreciated as
I've been going out of my mind, I'm tired
of the constant aches and pains, the mood
swings, and oh my god... POWER surges when
I go from comfortable to feeling like
someone just set my entire body on fire,
not to mention I suddenly sweat like a pig
and I NEVER used to sweat at all! I was
always the person who wore the sweater and
complained of being cold all the time.
Plus, don't know if this has anything to
do with everything else, but I have these
little floaty things in my vision ALL the
time. Looks like dust floating in the air,
but I know it's in my eyes, not actually
in the air. Eye doc said it's normal, but
they are driving me crazy, they're so
annoying! And something with my
circulation I guess... when I get out of
the shower, my legs, especially around my
knees, are covered in white spots. They go
away after some time, but they appear
anytime I stand too long, and sometimes
when I sit too long. I've seen them really
bad on my legs and my arms too! Not to
mention these little red, look like pin
pricks which all of a sudden appeared
across my chest and neck!
I don't know if I have a thousand little
things going on or one great big thing!
Believe it or not, that's not all either,
just tired of typing!
Sorry so long, but anything that anyone
could offer would be great! Been all over
other boards and the advice I get usually
is something I've already done and came up
empty handed!
Thanks!

twitches/flutters Posted: 05-22-08 08:42am
First, wow, StepMomster, you sound like me
with all those problems (or 1 we just
can't pinpoint!) I always say I started
falling apart at 20! (I'm 32 now)
So...here's my deal right now. Went to
doc a week ago for a sinus infection (had
a little fluid in my right ear too). My
lymph node inside my left elbow was a
little swollen and tender. She ran a CBC
and it was normal, but told me to come
back in 2 weeks if the lymph node isn't
better.
I took a course of antibiotics for the
sinus infection...a Z-pack.
Although no more low-grade fever (99+),
still been achy and lymph node still the
same, if not worse, and now right one is
up and tender some too.
Called nurse and she said to wait the full
2 weeks like the doctor had told me.
(however, I forgot to mention my other,
new, symptoms once she said that! btw...I
have a bad short term memory from
fibromyalgia and heart medication...of
course it gets way worse with lack of
sleep).
Anyway...my newest symptom has been a
twitch/flutter in my lower left
abdomen...I'd say ovary or between it and
groin/joint area. Same as you have all
described...I said like a twitch you get
in your eye, but inside, also feels like a
pregnancy flutter, but can NOT be (whole
other story there). I thought the first
night I noticed that maybe it was gas.
I'm going on at least the 4th day of it
though. The night before last night it
was constant for at least 3-4 hours and
must have persisted throughout the night
b/c I dreamed of feeling a baby sticking
out there, then had a baby, then felt it
again, then had another, then felt it
again and said I was having triplets
again! Boy...that was a weird dream.
So...do I call the nurse back and report
the aching and twitching/fluttering...or
wait another week. Do I call the obgyn
and explain and get in to him instead?
ANY help will be appreciated!
Thanks!
Miranda
