Hey girls I know this is diff in every state, but I was wondering...Can you legally change your last name (like through court system) without getting married or taking your maiden name?? See, steve and I are engaged. We are not sure when we are getting married yet. I hate absoultely hate having a different last name than jayden. I recently have been considering changing it to hers and steves last names. What do you think????

I think you can, but why dont you just get married if you want his last name, it will have a lot more meaning that way. Im not sure about out there, but I know out here you can. I mean just get married by court so you can have his last name

Hmm im not too sure about that one, im guessing ur best bet would be to call city hall and ask them...It didnt even cross my mind that the 3 of us, me tom and baby, will have different last names....Hm, I dont see marriage in the future any time soon so I guess the safest way to go would be to give her my last name right? Im sure it would be a heck of a lot easier to change from my last name to his if we tied the knot, rather than his back to mine if we ended up splitting up

That's wierd i'm the opposite. I'm married but I kept my maiden name, so me and my son have different names. But it is just until I finish shcool and stop getting my financial aid. You get more money when your single. But my marriage certificate has my hubby's last name, but that's where it ends. I guess I never thought about it that much. Maybe you should set a wedding date and make it official.
