ok as of today I am 40 weeks. Well Friday
I called my doctor because I had a
concern. I was bleeding a little when I
wiped, but when she called me back she
made the comment " I was going to be her
one that cries wolf all the time". This
is my 1st pregnancy its not like I know
what is going on. I was wondering if
anyone had any suggestons on what I should
do. Its bad enough I'm in pain everyday
cause of the pressure on my hip and all
she wants to do is give narcotics. Please
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

She doesn't sound like a very awesome
doctor. I'd fire that lady and get one
that does what she's paid to do. My
doctor would have told me that to be sure
there's nothing wrong, go to the ER and
get checked out. He never would have made
such a rude comment to me, especially
since he' knows it's my first pregnancy.

Well, how often are you calling her? If
you're calling her every few days or so,
she probably will start to get annoyed.
I'm not saying she's right in doing so,
but she IS human. Then again, if you ever
have questions that's exactly what you
need to do - call your doctor. If she gets
annoyed, that's her problem.
But I don't think you should find a new
doctor. You're right at the homestretch,
and you don't want some strange person who
doesn't know you or your history
delivering your baby. Let this doctor
deliver you, and then if you want, don't
use them again in the future. Also, if
what s/he said is really bothering you,
next time you see them, let them know that
you heard what they said and that it
really bothered you. Maybe they were just
having a bad day and it slipped out, or
maybe they didn't think it would hurt your
feelings.
Good luck.

I never call her but when I have a
appointment I do ask questions... Like I
should have the right to do.

You do have a right to feel comfortable
with your doctor. If you don't like her,
you can change doctors. Is this the first
time you've had difficulties with her?

at this point it may be hard to switch
Dr's but she does sound awfully rude. i
have an extensive chart from going in
several more times than i really needed
to because i was so paranoid... my Drs
just keep telling me i am fine and to stop
worrying
but i am 38 weeks and my Dr told me to go
in if i have heavy bleeding (not just when
i wipe) or contractions 5 minutes apart,
if the baby is not moving properly or my
water breaks. so if it is just when you
are wiping then i wouldn't worry too much,
you are probably dilating and it is
breaking blood vessels, which is good! but
you can always call the labor and deilvery
of your hospital too and ask them.

Hmm... maybe she was just having one of
those days then. I'm not excusing what she
said to you - it was beyond rude. Maybe
next time you see her you should mention
that it upset you and that you want to
feel comfortable asking her questions. She
might not even realise that what she said
hurt your feelings, or that she even said
it.
