Yeast Infection Or Not! Posted: 09-09-07 23:11pm
I have a burning pain when I use the
urinate. I'm not sure if it's an yeast
infection or not. I took an at home
vaginal screening test and my results
where good my pH was a 4.0 and that's good
and w/ the burning it said that it could
just be a yeast infection. I'm sexually
active with my boyfriend for 1yr and 3
mons are both faithful. Should I go ahead
and treat myself at home for a yeast
infection or not? What should I do????

Yea It very well could be a yeast
infection, I got a burning sensation when
weeing too from a yeast infection, get it
treated straight away, it could turn into
a urine infection and then to your
kidneys, believe me you don't want that..

It could be a yeast infection, or it could
be a urinary tract infection, or something
else. Yeast infections do not turn into
UTI's, but both can turn into PID (I
think). So you should get tested.
The first time you get a yeast infection,
you are supposed to get checked out by a
doc to make sure it's not something else.
Once you know what it's like, then you can
treat yourself.
If it's a urinary tract infection and you
treat it with anti-fungals (yeast
infection treatment) you could make it
worse.
So I'd go to the doc, and ask the doc what
to do about your hubby too. Men can get
yeast infections, but they're not as
obvious.

It's not my first time catching a yeast
infection but it's the first time it has
burned. I don't have health insurance and
our clinic only treats STDs so I can't go
there. I took the Monistat 1 day
treatment today but if it gets worse I'll
go see a doctor then. I'll have no
choice!

I hope i didn't get to you to late but
where ever you live....if you go to a
planned parenthood i know they treat UTI's
(bladder infections). Or at least the one
that i go to does. And i had a bladder
infection not that long ago and the
burning was over whelming!!! I knew right
away that it was a UTI and i've never had
one before. Not to sound sick or anything
but is their blood when you wipe? Not a
lot just like enough to make it a very
very very faint redish/brown color.
(nothing thats really really obvious or
anything) But i hope you figure it out
cause like someone else has already
said...if it is a UTI it can go to your
kidneys and what not if its left untreated
and that would not be at all fun! GOOD
LUCK HUN!

hurt, I remember the urge to wee all the
time and the burning was unbearable, I was
on a trip so OUT on the road . We had to get to
the nearest hospital, and they found that
it got to my kidneys and I had I weed red
blood, it was awful, I remember having
about 3 types of injections..God that was
the first and worst case I had.

I had a UTI after I had been having sex
for about a year. I thought I had an STD,
but didn't have it checked out (wonderful
I know). It burned almost every time I
urinated, especially after sex. The only
reason I found out was cause I was sick
and had a fever for a week and finally
went to the ER. They made me pee in a cup
and found I had a UTI that had went up
into my kidney, that's why my back had
been hurting as well. They gave me some
antibiotics and it was gone in about a
week.
I hope you get it figured out! Good Luck!
I don't think UTI can lead to PID cause a
UTI has nothing to do with the
reproductive organs. I'm 99% sure that it
won't result in PID if left untreated...
Drink Cranberry juice too, it clears it up
and prevents it!

Oh you're right... UTI can lead to kidney
infection, and now that I think about it a
yeast infection can't lead to PID either
because it's not bacterial.
I guess I was just worried

Well, if your pH is normal, it is probably
not a yeast infection. It could be a
urinary tract infection.
Also, it could be an STD. Just because
your boyfriend tells you he is faithful
doesn't mean it is always true.
I would go to an OB-GYN ASAP. If it's
something serious, it can be treated. If
it's not serious, and turns out to be just
a yeast infection, they can still treat
you. I wouldn't risk your no-no parts due
to uncertainty.

Wow! That's really scary. It can't be an
yeast infection because I treated as one
and nothing has changed. So my mother
told me to drink cranberry juice and it
should clear up in a few days, if not then
i'll go to a ob-gyn.

Cranberry juice does not *cure* a urinary
tract infection. You need to go see a
doctor and they will test your urine. You
don't need an OB/GYN. You can go to your
regular doctor. Leaving untreated UTIs is
dangerous.

I agree. Don't rely on cranberry juice!
You should drink cranberry juice as a
preventative, not a treatment. Best thing
to do is go to a doctor or it will only
get worse.

What I've heard about cranberry juice is
that it might make the stinging less, but
it won't cure it.
So you need to see a doc!

when i had a UTI
my OB-GYN told me to drink cranberry juice
and water
and wouldn't prescribe me an antibiotic
and it went away within 3days of drinking
nothing but cranberry juice
and water....
..but i have a really bad immune
system...
maybe she was just trying to help it...
**editted to ad: just wanted to let you
know my experience... i still suggest
going to the dr. and letting them
know..and letting them treat it.. don't
try to treat it yourself**

Here's the Lowdown.... Posted: 09-12-07 12:43pm
Home Treatment
You may be able to cure an early urinary
tract infection (UTI) if you act promptly
when you have the first symptoms of a UTI,
such as pain and burning with urination.
Home treatment steps that may stop an
infection from progressing include:
* Drinking lots of water, along with
cranberry juice, especially during the
first 24 hours after your symptoms appear.
This will help make the urine less
concentrated and wash out the
infection-causing bacteria. This may alter
some of your body's normal defense
mechanisms, but most doctors recommend
drinking a lot of fluids when you have a
UTI.
* Urinating frequently and completely
to empty your bladder each time.
This is from web md. It goes on to say
that the normal treatment is antibiotics.
Obviously, to cure it yourself with juice
you would have to catch it really early,
before it gets to the point that yours is
at now.

If it hasn't come to the bad parts yet,
she may still be able to cure it herself.
However, if it spreads - OUCHIE!
I ended up on the bathroom floor writhing
in pain in less than an hour from having
my first symptom. Apparently, once you've
had a UTI or more than one UTI, your
symptoms don't come on as strong so it can
get bad before you know it.

I was just figuring the home treatment
would no longer work because she first
wrote on the 9th and it's now the 12th,
the web md info says the first 24 hours.
It wouldn't hurt, I suppose, especially if
she can't get in to a doc right away.
