I went to my gynecologist around jan 9th to get birth control pills. I was prescribed ortho-tryclen-lo (28 pills) and I started those pills the sunday after my period (about 3 days after the doctor visit) I did pretty good with them and I got exactly halfway through and decided not to take them anymore so I stopped. I decided I wanted to get a different brand so she wrote me a new prescription. Before I started taking the new pills, I had a period exactly a month after the one in january and it lasted about 7 days (unusual for me) and was fairly light. Around the middle of february like the 22nd I got my period again I think so I started taking cyclessa. It had only been two weeks since I had gotten the period early that month. The period only lasted like two days (which is why I was doubting it as a period) and the second day was really heavy and that was it. I talked to a doctor about it and she said I was supposed to have finished the first pack of ortho-tryclen-lo but I never did. I had severe cramping around the 2nd week of cyclessa and was breakthrough bleeding almost everyday throughout the month. She said I wasn't necessarily protected. I got my period around the 2nd day of the last week pills of the pack. Am I supposed to get it during the last week pills for day 1 start? Or is that only for sunday start? Well this week my period has been so heavy. It's never been as heavy as it has been this week ever. I thought these were supposed to make it lighter. My question is that after this month and I start taking my active pills again (about 3 days) will I be protected? I forgot to ask my doctor if i'm protected now and if that was only just the first month since I threw myself off by not finishing my first pack of a different brand. Any input would help. Thanks.
