I am going to join cross country at my hs and I am going to be running a lot. Is there a certain diet I should follow? Or like foods to aviod or foods to eat? Any tips or anything would be great, thanks.

Things to Remember When You Run!
Well, I am not an expert, but I do run a lot. I am a pole vaulter and last season I ran distance for track. My track coach always encouraged me to cut back on candy and especially pop. Other junk food didn't seem to matter too much but he always said not drinking pop would make me faster. Also it's important to eat a balance diet of vegetables and protein. One of my friends had a lot of health problems while he was running and his doctor said he wasn't eating enough vegetables and that's really important when you run. Also remember to drink a lot of water because when you sweat it's easy to become dehydrated. That's pretty much common sense stuff but I hope it helps!

You want a lot of carbs, protien and water. Drink a gatorade before and after you run. After you run make sure you eat carbs. Water is the most important thing.
