Hi! Ok, I really need some medical advice. I am 3 days late on my period and this morning I took a at home pregnancy test, which was positive. I called my obgyn and scheduled a blood test. The blood test came out negative. Yet, I have a bunch of pregnancy symptoms. I hope I am pregnant because we have had infertility issues in my family and I don't want it to take forever to get pregnant!!! Please help!

You got the results of a blood test in one day? Incredible.

Blood tests are not wrong. You won't get a false negative. Whereas you might get a false positive on a home pregnancy test.

What did the doctor say?

Show me. Are they still posting?

A blood test is far more diagnostic than a test you peed on that you bought from a pharmacy or walmart. You are not pregnant.

I suggest calling our doctor's office first thing tomorrow morning and asking to speak with him or his nurse. Ask her.

Mostly I see people asking if a blood test could be wrong. Your same question.

I will pm you some websites I found by googling exactly what you did.

A blood test wouldn't be wrong with an ovarian cyst Wink

I have heard of a negative blood test but being pregnant. I am pretty sure it was due to the type of test. One needs a minimum hcg level to be considered positive while the other just reads the levels.

I have heard (not sure on it though) that if you took the yes-no you still could be but your chances are low. It could also be ovarian cysts which do cause false positives in home tests.

Actually guys, from peeonastick.com, I learned something quite interesting.

There are two kinds of blood tests, qualitative and quantitative. One measures the quality of your blood, and the other measures the exact amount of hCG in the blood.

Blood tests are normally LESS sensitive than the pee ones, because women are normally quite pregnant by the time they get the blood test. Personally, I think it is far more likely to get an early negative blood test and a positive urine test and still be pregnant!!

So my advice is this: Wait 2 or so weeks, and then go get another blood test done. Do a few more urine tests as well to confirm via them that you are indeed pregnant.

Would being anemic matter??? Or cause a default result in the yes or no blood test?
