OK, heres my deal. I've been on the generic Birth Control Kariva, for like the past 4 or 5 years. When that prescription ran up, I decided I wanted to try the new pill in which you only have 4 periods a year. The doctor recommended Seasonique. I'm currently in the middle of my 11th week on the birth control, the 13th being the week I'm suppose to be getting my period. Everything was fine up until the 9th week...that's when I started bleeding. Didn't think anything of it, thought it was normal cause I had missed a few pills the week prior too, figured it would stop in a day or two. Yeah, well I'm going on 3 weeks of bleeding now, and nothing seems to be working. It's not crazy bleeding, I go through maybe 1 or 2 tampons a day, but it's not normal looking for me at all. My boyfriend calls it "live blood" meaning it's really light in color, pinkish red. I've set up an appointment to speak with my doctor, but they couldn't get me until next thursday. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen to them???

I haven't used seasonique but I've heard that with pills that lessen your period frequency, some people do have a large amount of spotting/bleeding in between.

Your body isn't quite used to not having periods yet. It's good to talk to your doc because you have to make sure you're not losing too much blood, but it will probably keep up.

I was on Seasonique, and had the exact same problem. I thought my period was going to be never ending. It lasted for about 3 weeks and then finally stopped. I took continously birth control for 6 months (2 packs of those pills), and had the same problem both times.

It totally doesn't work, and the frustration of kind of bleeding for 3 weeks sucked! It's worth having a period every month to me.

Seasonique...
I have been taking Seasonale and Seasonique for 2 1/2 years now. I started with Seasonale and then they changed it to Seasonique a year ago.
For the most part, Seasonique doesn't reach the 84 day course as it should. Every trimester I take it, I start the break through bleeding around day 74. I never make it to day 84 to start the placebo pills (sugar pills (85-91) without spotting. Then I get my period. So basically I get a longer period, just very light at the beginning. Then it pretty much stops when I start a new pack.
So it's very annoying. I was trying to figure out why it does it. I read the ingredients, the pharmacokinetics and all that good stuff, and I think that what happens is that the hormones get lighter toward the end of the pack. Why else would I start spotting? Too much coincidence that it always happens toward the end.
When I have stopped taking birth control for several months and go back to it, I get break thru bleedings because my body is adjusting. But it shouldn't happen after continuous use. Well, at least now I know I am not the only one. And my libido does change when I'm on the pill.

I am having the same problem...I started seasonique in november after being on yaz (and having health problems with it)and about the 7th week, I started spotting...my dr told me that might happen but I thought that it might only last a few days, week tops but now it is going on three weeks and it is really making me and my boyfriend unhappy...I am also experiencing cramps and acne...both of which I have never had before...I called my dr the other day and her nurse said it will stop before my period is suppose to start but we will see...I am going to have her change my birth control with I have my exam in two weeks.

Seasonique
Yep - my "break through bleeding" started on day 39. I have been bleeding for 51 days now!!! On the last week of the first packet - tried to hang in there, but it's not worth it. Cramps, fatique, cranky cause I'm always bleeding.

Wow, @rchall1961, 51 day and I thought my (going on) 21 days was bad. I feel for you and selfishly hope I don't have to experience that.
