I've noticed lately that my penis is retracting, much like if I was to jump into icy pool, on a rather frequent basis. I have ED so its not like it matters that much how it looks, seeing as no one sees it haha, but it kind of annoys me. It's bad enough having a worthless dick, it doesn't help much that its been an inch long when flacid lately. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas as to why this might happen, throw some advice my way, it would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Penises tend to retract, as you noted, under certain conditions like jumping into an icy pool. At the gym I belong to there some guys with long, flaccid pensises and other men (mostly older) with penises that retract completely leaving just a scrotum hanging with testicles. They don't seem to be bothered by it as they stroll around the locker room and use the hot tub, sauna, and steam room in the nude. The bottom line seems to be accepting the reality and being comfortable with it. You might try masturbation to loosen it up some.

No it is terrible advice. Although Dave01 may be telling Jones_soda to get used to it I with the support of my girlfriend have found other much more reliable answers.

I have had a few back surgeries and am now nearing 60. Recently my penis has retracted as well. I have read other articles that state and exemplify the physiology of a human beings core. I'm referring to the musculature that reaches through and around the groin area. As we age our muscles become more relaxed if not exercised more and/or if you have had surgery. Physical Therapists attempt to have their patients strengthen the area with series of Kegel-like exercises but do not directly address the problem. If more people addressed the problem instead of initiating shame issues involved with sexuality we all could get to the cause and invariable the answer to these problems.

Keep searching online and I know you will find more of the answers. Certainly much more than is offered in this forum.

Umm, I'm not exactly sure how you never knew this so I'm just going to verify. Your penis retracts (as a whole and just seems to disappear back into your crotch) when you jump into an icy pool right? Well if thats exactly the case, you got nothing to worry about, because your body is highly efficient and in order to maintain body temperature (to ensure you will not have problems making babies in the future due to messed up sperm/etc), your penis and the scrotum of your balls will retract closer to the body (source of heat). When it is very warm, likewise, your penis will be fully extended (flaccid) and your balls (more importantly) will be loose to stay away from your warm ass body.

My penis occasionally retracts looking almost as I were uncircumcised, which I'm not. You can see a bulge where the head is, and a little extra skin at the top. Nothing a quick jiggle or two can't fix, but unconvenient when you need to urinate badly.

I can relate.
I can relate to this issue. My penis has always retracted since I was young which has been more then a bit embarrassing. While I'm erect it's about 5 1/2 in. in length and about 4 1/2 in. circumference . When flaccid it will stay what I consider average sized occasionally but for the majority of the time I'm lucky if I can even see it. I've heard of showers and growers and I'm obviously a grower. I've been searching for a way to transform my penis to where it is larger in both its flaccid and erect state. It is uncomfortable and has an impact on my self confidence to have a penis that is constantly retracted. I have no issues when it comes to getting it up, in-fact I'm very easily stimulated. I am trying techniques such as jelqing and I just started using the Jess extender. I can not see any results yet and I am having trouble keeping the Jess extender on for as soon as my penis starts retracting it tends to slip off so I have to keep it tight which feels like it is cutting off the circulation to the tip. I'm in my early 30's and have not been able to accept this no matter how hard I try. I have been with plenty of women and they all have seemed satisfied with my performance but I still question myself due to my size. I have the feeling that I need to give up on trying to change myself down there and just make due with what it is but that's easier said then done.

I'm 68 and mine started doing this about 5 yrs ago, and when it retracts it almost hurts, I can shake it or pull it and it will stay out for a while. When it really bothers me is at night while trying to sleep.

I have had this issue for most of my 60 years. It is annoying at the very least. I did see a doucmmentary on a Discovery Channel where a man in his 60's had a surgery where they snipped a tiny tendon inside the base of his penis. It's only evolutionary function is to retract the penis for warmth and safety. The surgery is very minor and apparently effects none of the normal functions. Sorry, I don't remember the operation's name.

Retracting Penis
Yes, I agree with T23ever1 above on the evolutionary protection point. My penis tends to retract when I am confronting someone or facing potentially dangerous situation. It's just a normal bodily function to protect itself. Some (male) martial artists train very hard to retract both their penis and testicles so they don't get damaged during a fight. Perhaps, you guys are natural kickboxing material. Cool.

What does physical stress cause my penis to retract
I am a normal male who has been attempting to exert himself more after back surgery. While returning to physical therapy I've noticed my "turtle effect". I want to simply know the mechanics involved to obtain and maintain strength in my lower back, alleviate my pain by strengthening it. Is there a direct correlation between back strength and reducing the frequency of "Turtling".

penis retracts
I have the same issue. I'm 65 an had first noticed the problem after riding my bike. Then 2 years ago my penis became smaller, about half the length, and would retract to an uncomfortable location when I sat or bent down and wouldn't come back out unless I pulled the foreskin back manually. My wife says that it doesn't matter but it does to me. Has anyone seen a doctor about this? It really sucks! No pun intended.

I have asked my G.P. and then a couple of Physical Therapists. All seemed to center around shame issues and sexuality. My Gf has researched it more and it is related to our musculature in the groin and our penis' will retract as we become older if we do not practice some kind of strengthening/stretching of that area. The articles I have read suggest more yoga-like exercises as well as walking etc. for more cardio and more stamina. My problems seem to lessen when I am more rested.

If you are here to say you have nothing to worry about please keep it to yourself. You dont know what youre talking about and its annoying and unhelpful.

I think its testosterone related. Ive heard there is a surgery which cuts the tendon or muscle that kind of hangs the penis.

It definitely retracts and the side effects are numerous.

Someone has to come up with a solution.

Also I think its fat related. I gained weight and it started. Also in my 40's.

I am 60 years old and I have had the "turtle" problem for a couple years now. I believe my problem was due to surgery. I had my prostate removed robotically in 2008. In one of the prostate cancer forums I saw a similar post about this issue. The thought there is that people who have the surgery and do not get their sexual function back (lucky me) have had this issue. In that forum it was noted that doctors refused to acknowledge the link between the surgery and this issue. My own doctor basically laughed it off!

I find it interesting that this condition seems to have multiple causes and is so widespread. Who knew? To me this problem is more than just embarrassing when with a woman or in the gym. If I forget to pull it back out before peeing the results can be quite messy! I hope this problem will be taken seriously by doctors at some point and we get some help.
