In Need of Guidance - MRSA Posted: 09-02-07 13:02pm
hello to all, i have been fighting MRSA
for so long and i have been through so
many different scenarios i pretty much
dont know what to do anymore, maybe
someone can help me....
i was diagnosed with cellulitis on 3/04 it
was a throbbing red sore on my stomach,
they said it would go away but it didnt so
they took a culture and it was official it
was MRSA. they initially prescribed me
AVELOX which worked for the first month
but soon re-emerged, at this point i
decided to take this seriously another
visit to the ER got me a script of AVELOX
and MUPROCIN for my nose.in an attempt to
eradicate this i totally sanitized my home
i cleaned all blankets clothes and went
through 14 cans of lysol. to make a long
story short i have gotten these sores or
boils 37 times in 3 years i have been to
the ER and PCP so many times that i gave
up and just started getting my own
antibiotics. but i cant continue this is
getting out of hand and everytime i go to
the ER they tell me they are going to
prescribe BACTRIM DS which i have been
prescribed 14 times with no luck of
getting well. i have thousands of dollars
in debt because of this and i currently
dont have medical insurance. im afraid if
i go again they will keep me with this
vicious cycle and not solve the problem,
but i need help and i dont know where to
go or what to do anymore, ive read some
articles that mention vancomycin and have
told the treating doctors about it and
they just say ok here is some bactrim. im
all out of ideas and money and slowly
losing my mind due to this ongoing dilemma
pls if anyone knows what i can do pls tell
me!!!

1st of all, welcome to ehealth! I am sorry
that you have this, I understand what a
problem this can be! I had kind of the
same situation but mine was infectious
staf after surgery and had to be put into
the hospital in which I was seen by a
Infectious disease Dr. that was great!
They put a pump into me that automatically
pumped meds into me every 4 hours and was
also given oral meds then after I was
released from the hospital, I had to carry
the pump around with me, I had home health
care come to my house three days a week
for about 6 weeks and then my husband was
shown how to do things and about 8 weeks
later I became better. If you do not have
insurance and do not have very much money
then talk to the hospital, some will
generally give you some paperwork to fill
out and they will sometimes write off a
portion to all of the bill, as I did not
have insurance and no money one time and
they wrote off the whole bill. Good luck
to you! I hope that you are able to find a
good dr. My thoughts are with you!
