Q: Irregular cycle + vaginal bleeding + can I get pregnant if I\'m
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 1st, 2007
Will I get pregnant while using Geritol and having an irregular cycle that last 14 days? My cycle has been this way since I stop taking birth control pills in March 2007. I spot for 7days & flow for 7days.

Geritol is a vitamin and mineral supplement and has no influence on the possibility to conceive. But irregular cycles/periods have a great influence on the possibility to conceive. The normal duration of an entire menstrual cycle lasts between 21-35 days. The normal duration of menstruation (period) lasts between 3-7 days.

Spotting between menstruation is a condition called menometrorrhagia. Menometrorrhagia can be functional or organic in nature. Functional menometrorrhagia is due to a hormonal imbalance of the axis ovaries-pituitary-hypothalamus. Organic menometrorrhagia is due to some type of structural disorder like an infection or tumor. In your case, vaginal bleeding could be functional because it wasn’t present while taking birth control pills. Anyway, with such intensive bleeding from the uterus you probably can’t conceive. You SHOULD consult a gynecologist about your condition.
