Q: Little red sore on the inner part of vagina - herpes 1&2 ulcer n
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 1st, 2007
I had a one night stand on 07-31 unprotected sex. About 5 days later started having very irritated vagina and fullness/heaviness feeling there. I saw a little red sore on the inner part of my opening. Not painful though. Went to the dr. exactly one week after the sex and got checked out for gonnarhea, chlymidia, from a swab, blood test for HIV and hepatitis. It all came back negative. A few days later I had extreme irritation like ingrown hairs on my vagina, the (genital lips) I noticed flat barely noticable ulcer looking sores about 3 around the opening to my vagina. I called the dr again and had her look. She said I look normal. She did a blood test for herpes and it came back negative for both herpes 1&2. This blood test was taken 3 weeks after the unprotected sex. I still have the ulcer looking things and major discomfort. I think it is affecting my anus too. It feels like hemmoroids. I don't know if any of the test results would have been different if I waited. I need advice.

If you think that you are experiencing some type of ulcer on your vagina and your doctor says that you don’t , then you can ask for a second doctor’s opinion. You can consult a specialist such as a dermatovenerologist or gynecologist about this. If there, indeed, is something present, the doctors will give you a proper treatment but if they again find nothing you might be able to let it go. Genital herpes can be proved via microbiological samples taken directly from the vaginal lesion (if there is one). Hemorrhoids don’t look like ulcers but herpes lesions may look like ulcers.
