Q: red itchy bumps on my vagina + sore on penis - genital herpes ?

I have hives all over my body right now, but im concerned because i have red itchy bumps on my vagina. At first i tought they were ingrown hairs , but that just doesnt make sense any more. They are red and itchy, and only on the outside of my vagina. One has turned into a scab because of itching. My boyfriend also has a sore on his penis, and this is also wy im very concerned. I have been overly tired lately, and wondering if this may have something to do with them. As i was searching the net i read about genital herpes, is this maybe a possibility??

According to your description of “red itchy bumps on the vulva” and “sores on your boyfriend’s penis”, you could be experiencing an infection that might be sexually transmitted. I am not sure about the type of infection because skin lesions have to be seen to be diagnosed properly.

Genital herpes manifests with skin lesions that develop in 4 phases: bumps, pimples, erosions and finally a crust. The dominant symptom present in genital herpes is not itching but burning, painful urination and painful sex. Inguinal lymph nodes can be swollen and painful, too.

You and your partner should consult a dermato-venerologist about these symptoms in order to have them correctly diagnosed.
