Q: New to Zoloft... Have ?'s About Side Effects

I started taking zoloft yesterday, and today i'm having major diarrhea. I know it's a side effect, but I was wondering if it should be coming on so fast, and if it eventually goes away. This is quite a serious factor for me because right now, with my anxiety, whenever I get even a small symptom, such as diarrhea or upset stomach (both side effects), I automatically think i'm sick.

Someone please help me out with this, it's going to dig me into an even deeper hole than i'm already in if I don't understand this.

Thank you so much.

I would call your doctor, if you haven't already. I've been on zoloft for about 2-3 months and I get an upset stomach if I don't eat a meal when I take it. Are you eating with it? ...That could be a cause for a side effect. Otherwise, just call your doctor, before things get worse, if you have this condition. Maybe you shouldn't be on zoloft. There could be something that you're allergic to in it.....I'd just call your doctor! Hope everything works out! And remember......Smile! It's a do-it-yourself facelift! You're gonna be ok, babe!

Have either of you considered using an alternative to zoloft? Valerian root is much safer than zoloft.

Personally, I can't....Because there's a special chemical balance with another medication i'm on that takes care of my condition. I can't take anything else that will give the same effect.......I'm not using it as an anti-depressant, but as a stimulant.....Sorry!

I have the same type of anxiety and panic attacks it sounds like. If I am around anyone who has the flu or gets the flu I worry for day if I am getting sick. Last week my doctor put me on paxil cr. The only side effect I have experienced is hand tremors, but that should subside. If the diarrhea does not go away in a few days or is to much for you to handle I would call your doctor and ask to go on something else. You do not want to be taking something that is going to make your anxiety worse!!

Zoloft
Dear everyone,
I was on zoloft for 8 days and my reaction to the medication was seizures. I now have epilepsy from taking zoloft. I no longer take any antidepressants, because they lower the brains seizure threshold. I am female and 21 yrs old. I live in australia and now I just dont know what is happening to me. Sad Sad

That is awful! Did the zoloft just make the inevitable happen sooner or did it actually cause the seizures? I am so sorry to hear that. I have been on zoloft for almost four years no, I think. Maybe three. I don't really any side effects that I know of. I do have some problems that may be from zoloft but I will not know until I quit taking it.
Are you going to get better?

That side effect lasts about 2 weeks. perhaps your dose is too high if it is more severe than most experience.
