lumbar puncture - can small piece of skin be pushed into spinal Posted: 08-31-07 16:43pm
i was wondering what would happen if a
small piece of skin was pushed into the
spinal cord for example during a lumbar
puncture. could it be possible that this
piece of skin could grow within the spinal
cord and possiblely interfere with the
cords function as it grew. i know this is
ifs and buts but any comments regarding
this would be much appreciated.
regards neill

It is physically impossible to push a
small piece of skin into the spinal cord
during a lumbar puncture because skin
tissue can’t survive in the
cerebrospinal liquid.
