On July 16th or 17th I started my period. My husband left on the 25th of July and I know I was off of it a few days before he left. Around the 6th of August I started spotting. Not enough where it got on my underwear but enough to where I wore a pad just in case. That ended on the 10th. It is now the 31st of August and I still haven't had my normal period. Should I be concerned? I took a pregnancy test today but it was around 5 pm, is it too early for me to test that late in the day? Could I be pregnant? Should I retest with the first morning urine? Or should I be concerned about it being something other than pregnancy?

Any pregnancy test that is made after you've missed your period is relevant no matter the time of the day. If the test was negative, you are probably not pregnant.

Spotting is not a sign of pregnancy. Spotting can be due to functional (hormonal dysbalance) or organic reasons (infection, polyp, myoma…). Other conditions can also cause lack of menstruation like the presence of a functional ovarian cyst. You can take another pregnancy test to confirm the results. If the test is positive, you are probably pregnant and you should visit your gynecologist. If it is negative you can wait for another 2 months and if the menstrual period still doesn’t come you should visit your gynecologist.
