Can a mole become dangerous after shave biopsy on upper arm ? Posted: 08-31-07 16:22pm
I recently had a shave biopsy done on a
mysterious looking mole on my upper arm.
The results came back that it was a normal
mole. However, I am concerned because the
mole has come back now and looks strange.
It is the all the same dark color, but
with very jagged edges. The biopsy came
back as a normal mole, could it have
changed to something dangerous since then?
The biopsy was done about 2 1/2 months
ago. When I talked to the dermatologist
at that time she said that I didn't need
to come back for 1 1/2 to 2 years.

“Jagged edges” around a mole is not an
accurate sign of eventual malignant
transformation of the mole (nevus). Signs
of malignant transformation include: color
change, pain, edema, growth, redness
around the mole etc. You must consult a
plastic surgeon about further treatment.
for example, it is possible to remove the
mole even if it is benign just to ease
your mind.
