Q: Effexor Xl Questions

Hi
I have been on 75mg Effexor tablets (once a day) for a number of months now and haven't been getting the desired results so my doctor has just increased the dose to 150mg effexor XL capsules once a day.

I have a few questions about the medication and I would be very appreciative if someone could answer them.

1. What is the difference between normal effexor and effexor xl?
2. Should I take 150mg at once as opposed to taking 75g at night and 75mg in the morning? Or does it not really matter?
3. Is there any difference between the effects of the capsules and the tablets?

Cheers

Hello, have been on Effexor XL for over 8 years! Best thing that ever happend to me, except over time I graduallywent from 75mg to 37.5.
1).The only difference is the effexor XL is time relesase and is released slwer into your body. Thats what was explained to me. You can go to the Website and read it for yourself!
2). If it's XL you take the entire does at once. Now for me, taking it in the evening works a lot better because it seems I'm not as groggy.
3) Capsules are preferred to me, gets into your system faster. At least it seems that way!
Hope I've helped some!

I do not think there is really a differnce between cap or tablet
2 You should be taking it all at one time and at the same time everyday and it can take 4 to 6 weeks for this drug to show how effective it works for you. I am on 150mg my doctor put me up to a 150 mg and a 37.5 capsules but That was too much started getting funny thoughts so went back down to the 150 mg and am doing fine. But it 4 weeks to notice that change and took about 4 weeks to get back to normal aftr going back to the lower dose.
I like this drug not many side effects They only one I have is the I am too hot but that is why a/c was invented or a fan but other than that I love it much better than zoloft or celxa
good luck
you can try playing with the dose as long as you are in contact with your doc about it to get the desired dose my doc and I played around with this one for about 6 months before we got the best dose for me.

venlafaxine xl and xr
hi , people i'm currently on several medications but i'm on velafaxine 75mg xr and mirtazapine 30mg which is another anti depressent . So i'm on 2 differnt anti depresents.

I can't really say i notice the differnce useing both drugs but then again i have a serious mental health problems i've been in hospital many a time for suicide attemps and self harming.

I will say with venlafaxine i don't really care about anything anymore like nothing bothers me . I'm very chilled etc.

But i picked me prescription up today and i noticed my doctor has put me on the xl capusels.

Will this have a major or any change to my mental state by swopping to xl ??
