What Do You Picture In Your Mind When You Hear "abortion"?

Please be as graphic as possible, or whatever this site allows. (I am new here so I don't know what is allowed, etc.,)

Thanks.

The woman, maybe that's because i'm pro-choice and have also been in the position of an unwanted pregnancy.

I always think of a live embryo, in the womb.

I picture a woman crying. For a lot of women they go through a lot of emotions. It isn't an easy decision for many

What does a live embryo look like? What does a dead embryo look like?

No, it's not. But for most it brings great relief.

I think I should have said foetus actually, but a very early one. About 12 weeks ish.

Well I see it as I've seen from the internet and documentaries as opposed to what I've seen on black and white u/s screens. That is, a very small, pinky coloured little thing with tiny arms and legs and a big head. I see the umbilical chord and the general scene is a pinky/red hue.

I don't picture a dead embryo/foetus. What one would look like would depend on how it died ie/ abortion/miscarriage/stillbirth. A dead foetus in the womb will look very different to a dead foetus killed by abortion for example.

Exactly as it does in a text book. I did see my embryo when I miscarried and it looked like those i'd seen in every biology text book I read, except it was whiteish, large black 'eye' and arms had formed.

Did that feel strange to see it? That's not a leading/trick question, I just wondered how it felt. I think I'd just stare at it for ages.

I picture a cutterage (sp?) device - one used in a D&C. Our professor passed one around the classroom in a University sexuality course.

Jules.. 89% of women do have abortions at 12 weeks or less.

almost 60% of those have the abortion BEFORE 9 weeks.

When I think of abortion, because I do work in an abortion clinic, I think of 5-9 week embryo/fetus, because those are when 90% of 'our' abortion patients have the procedure done.

I guess that's why I think of such an early foetus then. I don't picture anything gruesome though, even though I've seen lots of abortion pics. The mind is a funny thing.

The reason I asked the question in this thread is because I think most pro-life people think of abortion as something other than what it actually is.

An embryo that dies in the typical abortion does not have any arms, legs, feet, it has no face, no ears, etc., etc. It is also so tiny it can barely be seen.

But, the reason many people have a distorted image in their minds is because abortion protesters use deceptive pictures. If they used actual photos, they wouldn't garner any support.

What woman hasn't seen her own period?

Right when I read the question, this is exactly what I pictured.

Ok but that's not what you asked...the picture I have of an abortion procedure or the picture I have of what an aborted embryo or an aborted foetus looks like are quite different to what pops in to my head when I hear the word 'abortion'.

Say the word 'dilemma' to me and I think of bananas. True.

Also, I don't think the only issue with pro-lifers is the size of the embryo/foetus. The issue is that it's a human life being taken.

I don't picture the fetus or the procedure. I thought of the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of the word.

in the early typical abortion I don't picture arms, legs, feet, face etc because I know they are not there..I picture a woman going in to the hospital to end the life of someone. I have been to the hospitals for many different reasons like voluntary surgeries, to get meds, when I'm sick, but I can't imagine what would be like to go to a hospital knowing you are going there to kill a human heart that has already begun beating for no particular medical reason.. The thought makes me cringe..so oh well that's why you guys know that abortion is just not for me, I could have never been a good candidate..

And that is why we live in a free country. You have every right to never have an abortion.
