I had a mirena iud placed june30th. I had no menstrual cycle for the entire month of july. I started my period on august 6th. I began bleeding fairly heavy for about 1 week. After week 2 started and I was still bleeding I went to the doctor, she decided to put me on estradiol to stop the bleeding. I began taking the pills right away, after the 5th day on the estradiol I went back to the doctor and she decide to remove the iud since the bleeding had not stopped. She removed the iud on thursday, august 21. I then went to visit my husband who works out of town for months at a time, the next day. Well that was friday and of course we had intercourse even though I was menstruating. So I am a little concerned about becoming pregnant. On sunday which was the 23 I was almost done bleeding completely. So I guess my question is can you ovulate while menstruating? Or shortly after you have stopped? According to ovulation calculators counting from august 6, the first day of my cycle I would have been ovulating around the 21-23. But does this not count if you are still bleeding?
