Prostate cancer is rarely experienced
before 60 years of age but it becomes more
frequently found in men over 70 years old.
The etiology, or cause, of the disease is
unknown. Symptoms of prostate cancer are
related with disturbed urination
(disuria): frequent urination, painful
urination, burning sensations during
urination, frequent urges for urination
during the night, blood in the urine and
sperm, etc. If the cancer spreads, there
symptoms appear of local metastases: pains
in the lumbar-sacral region that irradiate
to the hips and legs. Painful ejaculation
is not a secure sign of prostate cancer.
You'll need several diagnostic procedures
to confirm or exclude the possibility of
prostate cancer: laboratory analyses
(prostate specific antigen and acid
phosphatase), a rectal examination and an
ultrasound examination. If there is
something suspicious present, a biopsy can
be done to precisely offer the diagnosis.
